Leones MGA - Leon 75-82 There was a minor upset in Managua where 5th ranked Leones MGA (7-7) was defeated by seventh ranked Leon (5-8) 82-75 on Wednesday. The best player for the winners was guard Pablo Rivas who had a double-double by scoring 26 points and 12 rebounds. American power forward Zacarry Douglas (203-1995, college: NCCU) chipped in a double-double by scoring 13 points and 15 rebounds. Forward Jean Quezada (-2000) produced a double-double by scoring 21 points and 13 rebounds and Puerto Rican point guard Luis Gonzalez (183-1997, college: PR-Bayamon) added 22 points and 5 assists respectively for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Leon maintains seventh position with 5-8 record. UNI Basket looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Occidentales' players. The best player for the winners was American Timothy Simmons (195-1992, college: DBU) who scored 27 points and 8 rebounds. The other American import center Leon Hampton (213-1995, college: Stillman) chipped in 17 points and 9 rebounds. Hampton is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Dominican guard Jefry Arias (182-1994) produced 45 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds and Raul Mendoza (190-1987) added 6 points and 10 rebounds respectively for the hosts.
