Leones MGA - Indigenas 86-65 Very expected game in Managua where 8th ranked Indigenas (5-18) were crushed by fourth ranked Leones MGA (12-10) 86-65 on Saturday. Leones MGA outrebounded Indigenas 47-33 including a 38-24 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Puerto Rican point guard Luis Gonzalez (183-1997, college: PR-Bayamon) fired 37 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds for the winners. American forward Josmel Martinez (198, college: Broward CC) chipped in a double-double by scoring 22 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists. American guard Chris Moten (190-1989, college: LA Pierce JC) produced 22 points and Raul Mendoza (190-1987) added 18 points respectively for lost side. Indigenas' coach gave up on the game allowing to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win. Leones MGA maintains fourth place with 12-10 record, which they share with UNI Basket. Loser Indigenas dropped to the ninth position with 18 games lost. Puerto Rican guard Jezreel De Jesus (185-1991, agency: Interperformances) nailed a double-double by scoring 25 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side and the former international swingman Francisco Garth (195-1999) accounted for 16 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Puerto Rican point guard Luis Gonzalez (183-1997, college: PR-Bayamon) came up with 31 points and 8 rebounds and American forward Josmel Martinez (198, college: Broward CC) added 8 points and 16 rebounds respectively for Leones MGA in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Real Esteli have an impressive series of ten victories in a row. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of their biggest opponent Jaguares (16-7) to third ranked Brumas (16-7) 95-93 in the game for the second place. Brumas outrebounded Jaguares 57-44 including 36 on the offensive glass. Dominican Xavier de la Rosa (196-1991) stepped up and scored 27 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners and Dominican center Jose Familia (201-1998) chipped in 13 points and 17 rebounds. Brumas' coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side American guard Byron Wesley (196-1992, college: Gonzaga) responded with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 13 rebounds and American-Puerto Rican Wil Martinez (188-1992, college: Fairmont St.) scored 27 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Five Brumas and four Jaguares players scored in double figures. Brumas moved-up to second place, which they share with defeated Jaguares.
