LSB Round 10: Leones edge Leon by two points

Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most exciting game of round 10 in the LSB took place in Managua. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of much higher ranked Leon (5-2) to fifth ranked Leones (4-2) 67-65 on Thursday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Leon. Leones dominated down low during the game scoring 42 of its points in the paint compared to Leon's 22. American guard Kaleb Hunter (193-1998, college: UNCG) fired 22 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Colombian center Chyse Webster (204-2000) chipped in 10 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. Dominican center Jose Familia (201-1998) produced a double-double by scoring 22 points and 12 rebounds for lost side. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Leones moved-up to fourth place. Leon at the other side keeps the second position with two games lost. They share it with Real Esteli.
Bottom-ranked Rivas (0-6) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 89-56 loss to third ranked Real Esteli (5-2) in . But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international power forward Jensen Campbell (198-1998) who helped to win the game recording 29 points and 7 rebounds. Christopher Gaston contributed with 12 points, 17 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. Real Esteli's coach felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Felix Ramos (-2003) replied with 14 points and 8 rebounds for Rivas. Real Esteli moved-up to second place, which they share with Leon. Rivas at the other side still closes the standings with six games lost.

In the last game of round 10 Tigres were defeated by UNI Basket in a road game 80-72.

UNI Basket - Tigres 80-72

There was no surprise when 8th ranked Tigres (1-5) were defeated on the road by sixth ranked UNI Basket (4-3) 80-72. UNI Basket dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Tigres' 38. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Jayson Brower (195-1996, college: John Jay) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds. American-Puerto Rican guard Robert Nieves (186-1999, college: Graceland) contributed with 19 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners. UNI Basket's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American power forward Lorenzo Martinez (203-1997, college: Southwestern, KS) replied with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 27 rebounds and Cuban Emmanuel Calderon (198-1998) added 26 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Tigres. Four Tigres players scored in double figures. UNI Basket moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Brumas. Tigres lost third consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with five games lost. They share it with Indigenas.
