Leonas - Tipitapa 67-77 Round 4 most important game was a victory of Tipitapa over one of their biggest challengers Leonas 77-67 on Sunday night. Tipitapa forced 21 Leonas turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. 27 personal fouls committed by Leonas helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Clenia Salazar (-1987) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 23 points and 19 rebounds. The former international forward Shannen Peralta (-2003) contributed with 19 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. American guard Jocelyn Taylor (183-1997, college: SEMO) replied with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds and her fellow American import guard Jessica Marino (-2000) added 18 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Leonas. Leonas' coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Tipitapa (2-4) moved-up to third place, which they share with UNI. Leonas at the other side dropped to the bottom position with five games lost. Second ranked Real Esteli had an easy win 73-42. Real Esteli dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to UNI's 26. Real Esteli forced 19 UNI turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by UNI's players. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Janae Barnes (183-1995, college: Johnson CCC) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds and Honduran forward Nelly Rapalo (173-1999) who added 8 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists during the contest. At the losing side Jamaican swingman Antoinette Bannister (178-1993, college: ECU) responded with 12 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and Sharen Sambola (185-2006) scored 7 points and 14 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Real Esteli have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains second position with 4-1 record behind leader Jaguares. UNI at the other side keeps the third place with four games lost. They share the position with Tipitapa.
