LSBF Round 12 (Regular Season): Real Esteli beat Leonas in the most crucial game of the week- September 23, 2023Here is the last round review presented by LBM Management.
Third ranked Real Esteli faced 4th ranked Leonas. Host Real Esteli (8-4) smashed guests from (3-9) 84-52. Real Esteli dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Leonas' 30. They outrebounded Leonas 50-39 including 29 on the offensive glass. Real Esteli looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Leonas' players. The best player for the winners was the former international Anahya Hodgson (-2005) who scored 14 points and 9 rebounds. Honduran forward Nelly Rapalo (173-1999) chipped in 8 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Jocelyn Taylor (183-1997, college: SEMO) who recorded 14 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending champion moved-up to second place, which they share with Tipitapa. Leonas at the other side keep the fourth position with nine games lost. Jamaican swingman Antoinette Bannister (178-1993, college: ECU) replied with 36 points (!!!), 7 rebounds, 7 assists and 8 steals for UNI. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Jaguares maintains first position with 9-3 record. UNI lost seventh consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with ten games lost. Jaguares will play against Tipitapa (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day.
