LSB Round 19 (Regular Season): Leader Caribbean Coast gets another victory

The round 19 was rather boring as all games ended with very predictable results. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

Leader Caribbean Coast delivered the fourteenth win on Friday night. This time they crushed 10th ranked Tigres (2-14) 111-58 in Managua. Caribbean Coast forced 24 Tigres turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 32 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by Tigres' players. Puerto Rican guard Luis Lopez (182-1998, college: PR-Mayaguez) fired a double-double by scoring 23 points, 13 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Puerto Rican power forward Owens Perez (206-1992) chipped in 15 points, 13 rebounds and 6 assists. American power forward Lorenzo Martinez (203-1997, college: Southwestern, KS) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Caribbean Coast (14-4) have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They maintain first place. Tigres lost fourth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 14 games lost. They share it with Rivas.
The game in Managua was also worth to mention about. Third ranked Real Esteli (13-4) played at the court of 6th ranked Jaguares (8-9). Real Esteli defeated Jaguares 92-77. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international swingman Francisco Garth (195-1999) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds. Christopher Blake contributed with 14 points, 6 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Real Esteli's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Guard Christian Pizarro (180-1995, college: Miami Dade CC) answered with 27 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists for Jaguares. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Real Esteli. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Brumas. Jaguares lost their third game in a row. They keep the sixth position with nine games lost.

Other games of round 19 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
Rivas were crushed by Indigenas in Matagalpa 96-64. Real Esteli beat UNI Basket at home 83-78. Leones destroyed Rivas on the opponent's court 108-56. Brumas managed to outperform Indigenas in a home game 77-66.
The best stats of 19th round was 28 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists by Marvin Cairo of Brumas.




Indigenas - Rivas 96-64

There was no surprise in Matagalpa where 9th ranked Rivas (2-14) were crushed by seventh ranked Indigenas (5-12) 96-64. Indigenas forced 20 Rivas turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Rivas' players. Worth to mention a great performance of Canadian swingman Zekiah Owens (197-1998, college: AIC) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists and 7 steals. American guard Tylan Dean (185-1999, college: Rogers St.) contributed with 17 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Four Indigenas players scored in double figures. Kurlam Chamorro (189-1989) answered with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 14 rebounds and Luis Urbina (180-1996) added 20 points in the effort for Rivas. Indigenas maintains seventh place with 5-12 record. Rivas lost their sixth game in a row. They keep the ninth position with 14 games lost. They share it with Tigres.

Real Esteli - UNI Basket 83-78

No shocking result in a game when third ranked Real Esteli (13-4) defeated at home 8th ranked UNI Basket (4-12) 83-78. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Real Esteli players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. They brought some defensive toughness making 8 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international swingman Francisco Garth (195-1999) who helped to win the game recording 18 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Center Barthel Lopez (213-1989) contributed with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. American forward Tyler Morman (206-1997, college: Southern Miss) answered with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 16 rebounds and point guard Brandon Wilson (-1995) added 13 points, 8 rebounds, 10 assists and 7 steals in the effort for UNI Basket. Four Real Esteli and five UNI Basket players scored in double figures. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Real Esteli. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Brumas. UNI Basket lost their eighth game in a row. They keep the eighth position with 12 games lost.

Very expected game when 9th ranked Rivas (2-14) were rolled over at home by fourth ranked Leones (12-4) 108-56. Leones dominated down low during the game scoring 74 of its points in the paint compared to Rivas' 38. Leones forced 27 Rivas turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 28 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Rivas' players. Leones brought some defensive toughness making 10 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of Venezuelan-Colombian center Michael Hinestroza (210-1990, college: UALR) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds. The former international forward Josmel Martinez (198-1999, college: Broward CC) contributed with 17 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Five Leones players scored in double figures. American Timothy Simmons (195-1992, college: DBU) contributed with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 7 rebounds and 11 assists for the winners.
