LSB Round 23 (Regular Season): Top-ranked Caribbean Coast win another game- October 26, 2023There are only two more rounds left in the Regular Season in LSB. The round 23 was rather boring as all games ended with very predictable results. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.
LSB top team - Caribbean Coast (16-4) had no problems winning another game on Tuesday. This time they crushed ninth ranked Rivas (2-17) 112-88. Caribbean Coast forced 25 Rivas turnovers and outrebounded them 38-23 including 22 on the offensive glass. Puerto Rican guard Luis Lopez (182-1998, college: PR-Mayaguez) orchestrated the victory by scoring 36 points (!!!), 9 assists and 4 steals. Puerto Rican power forward Owens Perez (206-1992) contributed with 23 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. Forward Jason Cortez (-1999) answered with 19 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists for Rivas. Caribbean Coast have an impressive series of nine victories in a row. They maintain first place with 16-4 record, which they share with Brumas. Rivas lost ninth consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with 17 games lost. They share it with Tigres. Caribbean Coast's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Managua Leones. The game between second ranked Brumas (16-4) and 8th ranked UNI Basket (5-14) in Jinotega ended with biggest points difference. Brumas outscored guests from 91-60. Worth to mention a quality performance of American Timothy Simmons (195-1992, college: DBU) who helped to win the game recording 22 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Kevin Andino helped adding 12 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. American forward Tyler Morman (206-1997, college: Southern Miss) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the seventh consecutive win for Brumas. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Caribbean Coast. UNI Basket at the other side keeps the eighth place with 14 games lost. There were no big surprises in other games of round 23: Indigenas were beaten by Leones on the road 77-71. Leon won against Jaguares on its own court 86-74.
