Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Managua: Costa Caribe (#5) and Leones (#8). Leones were defeated at home 71-75 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. Costa Caribe dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Leones' 22. Costa Caribe forced 20 Leones turnovers and outrebounded them 47-29 including 32 on the offensive glass. Puerto Rican guard Jorge Matos (185-1992) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international Andy Williams (200-2002) contributed with 22 points and 10 rebounds (on 10-of-11 shooting from the field) for the winners. American swingman Deondre Wade (194, college: Seminole St.) answered with 28 points and 9 rebounds for Leones. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Defending champion (4-2) moved-up to third place. Leones at the other side still closes the standings with five games lost. They share the position with Indigenas.
Bottom-ranked Indigenas is still unable to win any game. This time they lost on the road their fifth consecutive match to fourth ranked UNAN de (3-1) 105-63. Dominican center Jose Familia (201-1998) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) for the winners and Xavier dela Rosa chipped in 14 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. American guard Chris Moten-Jackson (190-1989, college: LA Pierce JC) responded with 26 points and 6 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. UNAN de have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain fourth place with 3-1 record. Indigenas at the other side still closes the standings with five games lost. They share the position with Leones.

In the last two games of round 5 UNI Basket was smashed by Real Esteli on the road 95-58. Brumas destroyed Tigres on its own court 107-79.
The most impressive performance of 5th round was 29 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists by Dalton Cacho of Brumas.




UNAN de L. - Indigenas 105-63

Bottom-ranked Indigenas is still unable to win any game. This time they lost on the road their fifth consecutive match to fourth ranked UNAN de (3-1) 105-63. UNAN de dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Indigenas' 30. UNAN de forced 24 Indigenas turnovers and outrebounded them 59-35 including a 40-24 advantage in offensive rebounds. UNAN de players were unselfish on offense dishing 33 assists comparing to just 16 passes made by Indigenas' players. No shocking result in a game when second ranked Real Esteli (4-1) crushed at home 5th ranked UNI Basket (2-3) 95-58. Real Esteli dominated down low during the game scoring 74 of its points in the paint compared to UNI Basket's 36. They outrebounded UNI Basket 52-39 including a 43-24 advantage in offensive rebounds. Real Esteli players were unselfish on offense dishing 30 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by UNI Basket's players. They brought some defensive toughness making 8 blocks. The former international center Andy Perez (200-1999) stepped up and scored 18 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!) for the winners and the former international power forward Jensen Campbell (198-1998) chipped in 14 points and 10 rebounds. Four Real Esteli players scored in double figures. Guard Santos Arce (-2001) responded with 15 points and 5 rebounds and forward Angel Alvarado (196-2004) scored 6 points and 7 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Real Esteli maintains second place with 4-1 record having just one point less than leader Jaguares. UNI Basket lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the sixth position with three games lost. They share it with Tigres.
