Top ranked Jaguares (12-2) recorded its second loss on the court of fourth ranked Real Esteli on Monday night. Visitors were rolled over by Real Esteli 100-78. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Jaguares. Puerto Rican guard Jezreel De Jesus (185-1991) fired 26 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. The former international Jared Ruiz (188-1992) chipped in 12 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. produced a double-double by scoring 16 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Real Esteli have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain fourth place with 7-6 record. Jaguares at the other side still keep top position with two games lost.

Worth to mention a great performance of who helped to win the game recording a triple-double by scoring 14 points, 14 rebounds and 12 assists. Jorge Matos contributed with 18 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. Puerto Rican guard Jezreel De Jesus (185-1991) answered with a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 13 rebounds for Flecheros. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Costa Caribe moved-up to fifth place. Flecheros at the other side dropped to the second position with five games lost.
Another exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Managua: Costa Caribe (#6) and Leones (#5). Costa Caribe (5-8) crushed visiting Leones (4-9) by 18 points 93-75. Jorge Matos stepped up and scored 37 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds for the winners. At the losing side Miguel Bolivar responded with 16 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Costa Caribe moved-up to fifth place. Leones lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the sixth position with nine games lost.

In the last two games of round 13 bottom-ranked Tigres were defeated by Jaguares in Managua 84-76. Flecheros beat Tigres at home 88-70.



Flecheros - Costa Caribe 88-91

There was no surprise in Managua where 7th ranked Tigres (2-12) were defeated by first ranked Jaguares (12-2) 84-76 on Saturday. Jaguares forced 19 Tigres turnovers. Strangely Tigres outrebounded Jaguares 49-37 including a 18-6 advantage in defensive rebounds. Puerto Rican guard Luis Lopez (182-1998, college: PR-Mayaguez) stepped up and scored 32 points and 4 assists for the winners and chipped in 8 points and 8 rebounds. Jaguares' coach used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side responded with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 20 rebounds and Tyrell Mendenhall produced a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds. Four Tigres players scored in double figures. Jaguares maintains first place with 12-2 record. Tigres lost fifth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 12 games lost.

No shocking result in a game when third ranked Flecheros (9-5) defeated at home bottom-ranked Tigres (2-12) 88-70 on Monday. Flecheros forced 19 Tigres turnovers and outrebounded them 46-35 including 34 on the offensive glass. Flecheros looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. American power forward Eden Ewing (204-1997, college: Texas Southern) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 27 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners and Colombian center Chyse Webster (204-2000) chipped in 18 points and 16 rebounds. Flecheros' coach used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side responded with a double-double by scoring 11 points, 5 rebounds and 14 assists and Puerto Rican guard Ezequiel Colon (193-1999, college: Lehman) scored 17 points and 7 rebounds.
