The most exciting game of round 20 in the TBN took place in Managua. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of one of their biggest challengers Leones (16-3) to fifth ranked UAM Univ. (17-4) 75-72 in the game for the third place. The best player for the winners was the former international point guard Sharlon Hodgson (183-1994) who scored 30 points and 9 rebounds. Guard Shaen McMeo (-2006) chipped in 16 points and 4 steals. Elijah Allen produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. UAM Univ. moved-up to third place. Leones at the other side dropped to the fourth position with three games lost. They share it with Flecheros.
Very important is a road loss of third ranked Flecheros (16-3) against seventh ranked La Trinidad (13-6) on Sunday night. Visiting Flecheros were defeated by La Trinidad in a tough game in Esteli 67-76. Erick Mairena (-2004) orchestrated the victory by scoring 22 points and 7 rebounds. Fabio Cardoza contributed with 8 points, 18 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. International Kevin Andino (186-2002) replied with 22 points and 6 rebounds for Flecheros. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. La Trinidad have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain seventh position with 13-6 record. Flecheros at the other side dropped to the fourth place with three games lost. They share the position with Leones.
Undefeated leader Jaguares delivered the eighteenth consecutive victory on Sunday night. This time they crushed 10th ranked Americas 2 (9-9) 106-55 in Managua. Worth to mention a quality performance of Lesther Castillo who helped to win the game recording 26 points and 5 rebounds. Johan Porras responded with 12 points and 6 rebounds. Undefeated Jaguares (18-0) have an impressive 18-game winning streak. They maintain first position with a perfect record of 18 victories in a row. Loser Americas 2 keeps the tenth place with nine games lost. They share the position with Sebaco.

Rest of the games of round 20 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
Mineros defeated Los Bufalos in Puerto Cabezas 97-92. Winless Nicaragua U16 was smashed by Frente at home 60-84. Tipitapa lost to Sebaco on the opponent's court 65-79. San Isidro managed to outperform Tigres in a home game 75-71. UNAN de was rolled over Brumas on the road 78-53.



Los Bufalos - Mineros 92-97:
There was no surprise in Managua where 15th ranked Los Bufalos (6-13) were defeated by ninth ranked Mineros (10-8) 97-92 on Sunday. Worth to mention a great performance of Jose Mccurbia who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 24 points and 13 rebounds and forward Norvin Mairena who added 18 points and 11 rebounds during the contest. Mineros' coach used entire bench in such tough game. Forward Webeans Moody (-2001) responded with 27 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists and Roger Herrera scored 26 points and 6 rebounds. Mineros moved-up to eighth place. Loser Los Bufalos keep the fifteenth position with 13 games lost.

Frente dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Nicaragua U16's 32. Frente forced 20 Nicaragua U16 turnovers and outrebounded them 59-45 including a 38-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of Kurlam Chamorro (189-1989) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 15 points and 13 rebounds and Luis Urbina (180-2001) who added 17 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest.
