Ernesto Oglivie selected the top Panamanian playing abroad in last week's games

We bring you last week's top performances from Panamanians who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.

Ernesto Oglivie

   #1. This week's number one is an international forward Ernesto Oglivie (203-89, currently plays in Mexico). He was the major contributor in Capitanes' victory against the fourth-ranked Panteras (9-7) 88-83 in the Mexican LNBP (second division) last Tuesday. Oglivie recorded 19 points. Capitanes Ciudad de Mexico (11-4) is placed first in West group. It's Oglivie's first season with the team. He has relatively good stats this year: 12.3ppg, 4.5rpg, 2FGP: 62.8%(71-113), 3FGP: 16.7% and FT: 62.5%. Former Correcaminos de Colon starter played for the Panamanian senior national team one years ago.

Daniel Giron

   #2. Second place goes to an international guard Daniel Giron (193-89, currently plays in Mexico) is a teammate of previously mentioned Ernesto Oglivie and both played together in the last Mexican LNBP game. Giron contributed to Capitanes' victory against the fourth-ranked Panteras (9-7) 88-83. He recorded 10 points and added 4 passes in 22 minutes. This year Giron averages: 6.0ppg, 1.7rpg, 1.3apg, 2FGP: 46.4%, 3FGP: 45.7%(16-35) and FT: 84.2% in 15 games he played so far. He played for the Panamanian national team in 2018.

Javier Carter

   #3. The Panamanian player who performed third best last week abroad was an international center Javier Carter (203-91, college: S.Alabama, currently plays in Japan). Carter contributed to an Akita Happinets' victory against the fifth-ranked Shiga L-Stars (2-8) 77-63 in the Japanese B1 League in Saturday night's game. He scored 7 points, had 8 rebounds and dished 3 assists. Akita Northern Happinets (5-4) are placed fifth in East group. But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen. Carter's overall stats this year are: 6.5ppg, 7.7rpg, 1.7apg, 1.3spg, 3FGP: 14.3% and FT: 69.2%. He is a naturalized American. Carter is also a member of the Panamanian senior national team. He used to play for Caballos de Cocle Aguadulce in Panamanian league.

Trevor Gaskins

   #4. Point guard Trevor Gaskins (188-89, agency: Pro Sports, college: Louisiana Tech, currently plays in Argentina) managed to help Olimpico de La Banda in a 2-point victory against the sixth-ranked Atenas (0-3) 86-84 in the Argentinian La Liga last Friday. Gaskins recorded 5 points and added 3 passes in 23 minutes. Olimpico de La Banda (5-3) is placed third in Grupo B group. They ended the series of three consecutive loses. The Regular Season already ended. This year Gaskins has relatively solid stats: 11.4ppg, 2.1rpg and 2.5apg in eight games. He is a naturalized American. Gaskins is also Panamanian national team player. He used to play for Correcaminos de Colon in Panamanian league.

   #1. Doron Lamb (193-G-91, college: Kentucky, currently plays in EuroCup) could not help Darussafaka (3-2) in their last game. Despite his good performance the second-placed Darussafaka (3-2) was edged 79-77 at home by the leading Unics Kazan in the group C of Eurocup. Lamb was the second best scorer with 12 points. He also added 3 assists in 30 minutes. Lamb has relatively good stats this year: 10.4ppg and 3.0apg in five games he played so far. He is a naturalized American. Strangely Lamb has never played in Panama.

   #2. Anell Alexis (200-F-90, college: Marist, currently plays in Germany) led SG Schwelmer Baskets to a victory against the 12th-ranked RSV Eintracht (1-5) 84-70 in the German ProB (third division) on Saturday night. Alexis scored 12 points, had 6 rebounds and made 4 blocks. EN Baskets Schwelm (5-1) is placed second in North group. But the season just started, so everything may happen. Alexis has reliable stats this year: 15.0ppg, 5.0rpg, 1.8apg and 1.3bpg. He is a naturalized American. Alexis used to play for Caballos de Cocle Aguadulce in Panamanian league.

   #3. Kaleb Joseph (190-G-95, college: Creighton, currently plays in Slovenia) contributed to Zlatorog's victory against the eighth-ranked Sentjur (1-3) 89-76 in the Slovenian Liga Nova KBM in Saturday night's game. He recorded 7 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists in 16 minutes. Zlatorog Lasko (3-2) is placed second in the Liga Nova KBM. But the season is still in it's first stage and everything can happen. This year Joseph's overall stats are: 9.0ppg, 3.5rpg and 3.3apg in four games. He is a naturalized American. Strangely Joseph has never played in Panama.
