Traditionally, every week we bring you a list of the top performances of Panamanians who are currently playing abroad.
#1. This week's number one is an international point guard
Trevor Gaskins (188-89, agency:
Pro Sports, college:
Louisiana Tech, currently plays in Basketball Champions League Americas). He led his Argentinian team
Quimsa to an overtime victory against the league leader San Lorenzo (4-0)
110-97 in the Basketball Champions League Americas in Tuesday night's game.
Gaskins scored 18 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 31 minutes on the court. It was his first game for Quimsa this season.
It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. His team is placed fourth in the Basketball Champions League Americas.
Gaskins is a naturalized American.
He is currently a member of the Panamanian senior national team. Gaskins used to play for Correcaminos de Colon in Panamanian league.
#2. Second place goes to an international forward
Akil Mitchell (206-92, college:
Virginia, currently plays in Balkan League). He led his Israeli team
Rishon to a victory against the closely-ranked Beer Sheva (0-3)
89-85 in the Balkan League last Sunday.
Mitchell recorded 15 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists.
It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Maccabi Rishon Le-Zion (2-1) is placed second in the Balkan League.
The First Round already ended in the Balkan League.
It's Mitchell's first season with the team.
He has individually a very good year with high stats. Mitchell averages: 19.3ppg, 11.3rpg, 3.0apg, 2FGP: 61.8%(21-34) and FT: 72.7%.
He is a naturalized American.
Mitchell is in the roster of the Panamanian senior national team. Strangely he has never played in Panama.
#3. The Panamanian player who performed third best last week abroad was an experienced international forward
Josimar Ayarza (205-87, college:
Southern Miss, currently plays in Mexico). Ayarza could not help the league outsider
Correcaminos (0-16) in their last game. Despite his very good performance the sixth-placed Correcaminos (0-16) was crushed
113-82 at home by the second-ranked Dorados in the East group.
Ayarza was the top scorer with 26 points. He also added 7 rebounds in 31 minutes.
So far Correcaminos lost all sixteen games in the Regular Season.
The Regular Season already ended.
Ayarza has very impressive stats this year: 17.3ppg, 5.0rpg, 2FGP: 48.3%, 3FGP: 34.5% and FT: 81.3% in eight games he played so far.

He scored 9 points.
But Aaguacateros (#2) was edged
86-83 on the road by the lower-ranked Abejas (#5) in the West group.
Giron's team will play only one more game in the Regular Season. And that game will be critical.
