Here is the weekly review of the top performing Panamanian players, who play currently abroad.
#1. This week's number one is an international forward
Akil Mitchell (206-92, college:
Virginia, currently plays in Israel). He led
M.Rishon to a victory over the closely-ranked Maccabi Haifa (8-9) crushing them
102-72 in the Israeli Winner League in Wednesday night's game.
Mitchell was MVP of the game. He had a double-double by scoring 27 points and getting 13 rebounds. Mitchell also added and 5 steals in 32 minutes on the court.
Maccabi Rishon Le-Zion (8-10) is placed ninth in the Winner League.
It's Mitchell's first season with the team.
He has individually a very good year with high stats. Mitchell averages: 15.2ppg, 9.2rpg, 1.8apg, 1.3spg, 2FGP: 60.4%(113-187), 3FGP: 28.6% and FT: 55.4% in 18 games he played so far.
He is a naturalized American.
Mitchell is currently a member of the Panamanian senior national team. Strangely he has never played in Panama.
#2. Second place goes to an international point guard
Trevor Gaskins (188-89, agency:
Pro Sports, college:
Louisiana Tech, currently plays in Argentina). Gaskins was the major contributor in
Quimsa's victory against the sixth-ranked San Lorenzo (14-0)
88-81 in the Argentinian La Liga last Sunday.
He scored 16 points.
Quimsa Santiago del Estero (21-0) is placed first in the La Liga.
So far his team won all twenty one games in the Regular Season.
The Regular Season already ended.
Gaskins' overall stats this season are: 7.7ppg, 2.6rpg, 2.1apg, 2FGP: 44.8%, 3FGP: 30.2% and FT: 71.1%.
He is a naturalized American.
Gaskins is in the roster of the Panamanian senior national team. He used to play for Correcaminos de Colon in Panamanian league.
#3. The Panamanian player who performed third best last week abroad was an international center
Javier Carter (203-91, agency:
Slash Sports, college:
USA, currently plays in Japan). Carter was the main contributor in an
Akita Northern Happinets' victory against the ninth-ranked San-en NeoPhoenix (11-35)
88-83 in the Japanese B1 League on Saturday night.
He was the best player in that game. Carter recorded 20 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists and made 3 blocks in 32 minutes.
Akita Northern Happinets (25-20) are placed seventh in East group.
This year Carter's overall stats are: 8.7ppg, 5.8rpg, 1.4apg, 1.1spg, 3FGP: 30.1% in 34 games.
He is a naturalized American.
Carter is also a member of the Panamanian senior national team. He used to play for Caballos de Cocle Aguadulce in Panamanian league.
#4. Guard
Iverson Molinar (193-99, currently plays college basketball in the States) contributed to a 1-point
MSU's victory against the University of Richmond (7-0)
68-67 in the NCAA National Tournament Round 3 on Thursday night.
Molinar recorded 18 points and grabbed 7 rebounds.
The Mississippi State University has 8-10 conference record this season.
His team will play only one more game in the NCAA National Tournament Round 3. And that game will be critical.
This season Molinar has very high stats. He averages: 16.7ppg, 3.9rpg and 2.4apg.
Molinar used to play for the Panamanian national team
back in 2017.
#5. An experienced international power forward
Jamaal Levy (206-83, college:
Wake Forest, currently plays in Argentina) contributed to a
Dep Viedma's victory against the 12th-ranked Atenas (2-6)
84-77 in the Argentinian La Liga Argentina (second division) in Wednesday night's game.
He scored 11 points and grabbed 9 rebounds in 20 minutes.
Deportivo Viedma Rio Negro (6-2) is placed first in Conferencia Sur.

This year Levy's total stats are: 7.9ppg, 6.4rpg and 1.5apg in eight games.
He plays currently for the Panamanian national team.
#6. Shooting guard
Daniel Giron (192-89, currently plays in Mexico) helped
Soles win their game against one of league's weakest teams NCG Potros (1-6)
119-103 in the Mexican LBE (third division) on Saturday night.
He scored 12 points and added 4 passes in 29 minutes.
Soles de Ojinagais placed first in the LBE.
Giron has relatively good stats this year: 13.3ppg, 3.3rpg, 1.8apg and 1.8spg in four games.
He is an international player who is currently on the senior Panamanian National Team roster.

Florida to a victory against the Virginia Tech University
75-70 in the NCAA National Tournament Round 1 in Friday night's game.
Castleton recorded a double-double by scoring 19 points and getting 14 rebounds. He also added 3 blocks.
The University of Florida has 10-8 conference record this season.
The National Tournament Round 1 already ended in the NCAA.
Castleton has relatively good stats this season: 12.4ppg, 6.4rpg, 1.1apg and 2.2bpg.
He is a naturalized American.
Apparently Castleton has never played in Panama.
#2. Eddie Giron (194-SG-97, college:
WNMU, currently plays in Mexico) contributed to
Toros' victory against the closely-ranked Centauros (5-2)
101-92 in the Mexican LBE (third division) last Friday.
He scored 8 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in 29 minutes.
It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Toros de Nuevo Laredo (4-3) is placed fourth in the LBE.
It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row.
Giron has relatively good stats this year: 12.3ppg, 6.3rpg, 2.8apg and 2.3spg in four games he played so far.
He has a dual citizenship: Mexican and Panamanian.
#3. Luis Rodriguez (198-G/F-99, currently studies in the States), who plays in the NCAA could not help the
Ole Miss (10-8) in their last game on Friday. Despite Rodriguez's good performance the Ole Miss was defeated
70-61 on the road by the Louisiana Tech University.
He recorded a double-double by scoring 10 points and getting the same number of rebounds.
The National Tournament Round 1 already ended in the NCAA.
Rodriguez has averaged so far 7.6ppg, 6.3rpg, 2.0apg and 1.6spg.
#4. Gabriel Giron (192-SG-88, currently plays in Mexico) was not able to help one of league's weakest teams
Centauros (5-2) in their last game on Saturday. Despite Giron's very good performance Centauros was badly defeated
100-81 at home by the leading Dorados.
He was the top scorer with 20 points. Giron also added 8 rebounds.
Giron has individually a very good season with high stats. He averages: 18.0ppg, 6.2rpg, 3.0apg and 1.2spg.
Giron is another player who holds two passports: Panamanian and Mexican.
#5. Joshua Ibarra (211-C-95, college:
HBU, currently plays in Mexico) is a teammate of previously mentioned Gabriel Giron. He played also in the last Mexican LBE game facing Eddie Giron (above) in the other team.
Ibarra was not able to secure a victory for
Centauros (5-2) in their last game. Despite his good performance Centauros lost
92-101 in Nuevo Laredo to the lower-ranked (#4) Toros.
Ibarra had a double-double by scoring 12 points and getting 14 rebounds. He also added 3 blocks in 23 minutes.
This year Ibarra has relatively solid stats: 12.0ppg, 12.5rpg and 1.3bpg in four games.
He has both Panamanian and Mexican nationalities.
