Franchesco Controny had a very impressive game in the last round for league's leader Univ.West and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents LPB U21 Player of the Week award for round 5.
The had a double-double of 19 points and ten rebounds, while his team beat Dragones (#6, 1-4) 78-72. It allowed Univ.West to consolidate first place in the Panamanian LPB U21. Univ.West have a solid 4-1 record. In the team's last game Controny had a remarkable 54.5% from 2-point range. He has many years of experience at Univ.West, through which he has constantly improved. Controny has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in points (3rd best: 23.0ppg), assists (5th best: 4.0apg) and averages solid 3.0spg.
The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 19-year old forward Justin Diaz (187-F-02) of Panteras. Diaz impressed basketball fans with 28 points and 9 rebounds. Bad luck as Panteras was edged by slightly higher-ranked Caballos (#4, 3-2) 66-63. Panteras is still second from the bottom in the standings. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 2-3 record. Diaz is one of the most experienced players at Panteras and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 19.2ppg (#9). He also registered 8.4 boards per game.
The third best performed player last round was Jesus Lombardo (201-C) of Dragones (#6). Lombardo scored 17 points and grabbed seventeen rebounds (!!!). Despite Lombardo's great performance Dragones lost 72-78 to the higher-ranked Univ.West (#1, 4-1). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. Dragones can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have rather bad season and 1-4 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Lombardo has individually a great season in Panama. After only 5 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 11.8rpg (#1 in league).

The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
