Franchesco Controny had an amazing evening in the last round for league's best team Univ.West and receives a Hoops Agents LPB U21 Player of the Week award for round 6.
He had the game-high 36 points adding six rebounds and six assists for Univ.West in his team's victory, helping them to crush Atletico (#3, 3-2) with 23-point margin 108-85. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. It allowed Univ.West to consolidate first place in the Panamanian LPB U21. Univ.West have a solid 5-1 record. In the team's last game Controny had a remarkable 77.8% from 2-point range and got four three-pointers out of 8 attempts. He turned to be Univ.West's top player in his first season with the team. Controny has impressive league stats. He is league's best scorer averaging so far 25.2ppg. Controny is in league's top in assists (5th best: 4.3apg) and averages solid 2.5spg.
Second best performed player last round was Jorhiel Zapata (196-F-02) of league's second-best Correcaminos. He is a forward in his first season at Correcaminos. In the last game Zapata recorded impressive double-double of 24 points and 14 rebounds. Of course Correcaminos cruised to a 72-62 relatively comfortable win over the lower-ranked Toros (#7, 1-5). This victory allowed Correcaminos to move up to second position in the standings. His team lost just one game this season, while they won 4 matches. Zapata is a newcomer at Correcaminos and quickly became one of team's most reliable players.
Third place about best performers goes to guard Jose Montenegro (191-SG-98) of Caballos (#4). Montenegro showcased his all-around game by recording 16 points, seventeen rebounds (!!!) and six assists in the last round. Despite Montenegro's great performance Caballos lost 79-83 to slightly lower-ranked Dragones (#6, 2-4). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. The last thing Caballos needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams. Their record is 3 victories and 3 lost games. Montenegro has a great season in Panama. After only 5 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 19.6ppg (7th best), rebounds with 11.0rpg (2nd best) and assists with 4.6apg (4th best).

The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
