King number one in Panama for round 12 (by Hoops Agents)- October 11, 2021
The 34-year old player was the main contributor (20 points, eight rebounds and two assists) to his team's victory, helping them to edge out Caballos (#6, 2-9) 90-87. Atletico Nacional maintains the 3rd position in Panamanian LPB. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Atletico Nacional will need more victories to improve their 7-3 record. It was one of impressive evenings for King as usually he does not deliver so high stats. Former Texas Southern University star has very solid stats this year. King is in league's top in points (6th best: 11.9ppg), rebounds (3rd best: 10.9rpg), assists (8th best: 3.0apg) and averages impressive 1.6bpg and 51.6% FGP. The second best player in last round's games was 37-year old Colombian John Hernandez (207-C-84) of Toros. Hernandez had a very good evening with a double-double of 17 points and 19 rebounds. Bad luck as Toros lost that game 53-69 to the higher-ranked Dragones (#4, 6-4). Toros are still at the very bottom. 11 lost games are too many considering they did not win any game. Hernandez is a newcomer at Toros, but is already one of team's top players. Third on the list of top players last round was another Atletico Nacional's star - American guard Robert Martinez (185-PG-91). Martinez scored 24 points and passed nine assists. He was another key player of Atletico Nacional, helping his team with a 90-87 win against the lower-ranked Caballos (#6, 2-9). Atletico Nacional needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 7 victories and 3 lost games. Martinez has a great season in Panama. After 11 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 20.2ppg (2nd best) and assists with 5.1apg (4th best). He also has FGP: 52.4% and 3PT: 43.8%. Martinez attended one of camps at Eurobasket Summer League on his way to pro basketball. Other top performing players last week: 4. Carlos Rodriguez (206-C-89) of Caballos - 28 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists 5. Logan Santiago (185-G) of Universitarios - 26 points and 5 rebounds 6. Troy Jones (201-F-92) of Universitarios - 23 points and 5 rebounds 7. Israel Munoz (196-PF-91) of Universitarios - 12 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists 8. Adalberto Rojas (200-PF-86) of Caballos - 20 points and 12 rebounds 9. Jose Montenegro (191-SG-98) of Caballos - 15 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists 10. Gil Atencio (202-PF-96) of Dragones - 13 points and 4 rebounds The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
