Anell Alexis gets MVP of the Week award for Panamanian LPB (by Hoops Agents)- October 14, 2021
The 31-year old power forward had the game-high 36 points adding five rebounds and three assists for Universitarios in his team's victory, helping them to beat Dragones (#4, 7-5) 92-84. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. It allowed Universitarios to consolidate first place in the Panamanian LPB. Universitarios have a solid 9-2 record. In the team's last game Alexis had a remarkable 54.5% from 2-point range and got five three-pointers out of 6 attempts. He turned to be Universitarios' top player in his first season with the team. Anell Alexis averages this season 22.4ppg. The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 26-year old American forward Zacarry Douglas (203-F-95) of Dragones. Douglas impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 21 points and 10 rebounds. Bad luck as Dragones lost that game 84-92 to the higher-ranked Universitarios (#1, 9-2). It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Dragones still maintains its place in the top 4 of the standings, even despite this loss. His team's 7-5 record is not bad at all. Douglas is a newcomer at Dragones and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. The third best performed player last round was another Dragones' star - Gil Atencio (202-PF-96). Atencio scored 18 points and grabbed nine rebounds. He was another key player of Dragones, helping his team with a 95-67 easy win against slightly lower-ranked Caballos (#6, 2-10). Atencio has a very solid season. In 12 games in Panama he scored 10.9ppg. He also has 6.1rpg and FGP: 60.0%. Other top performing players last week: 4. Yosimar Stewart (197-PF-86) of Correcaminos - 12 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists 5. Eugenio Luzcando (187-G-95) of Universitarios - 26 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists 6. Tyler Gaskins (193-F-92) of Correcaminos - 17 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists 7. John Hernandez (207-C-84) of Toros - 9 points, 17 rebounds and 4 assists 8. Dylan Johns (211-C-93) of Caballos - 14 points and 10 rebounds 9. Pablo Rivas (198-F-94) of Dragones - 25 points and 4 rebounds 10. Luis Dinolis (185-SG-93) of Panteras - 18 points, 2 rebounds and 2 assists The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
