The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Halcones as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Halcones smashed bottom-ranked Toros in Panama City 92-55. Halcones forced 23 Toros turnovers and outrebounded them 48-36 including a 39-26 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Toros' players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Halcones made 8 blocks. It was a great evening for American guard Logan Santiago (185, college: AIC) who led his team to a victory scoring 21 points and 6 assists. The former international Anell Alexis (200-90, college: Marist) helped adding 22 points (perfect from the field making all nine shots !!!). The best for the losing side was point guard Daniel Machore (170-6) with 9 points and 4 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Halcones (10-2) have an impressive series of nine victories in a row. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Toros at the other side still closes the standings with 13 games lost.
