Laura Garrido
Colombian Forward Laura Garrido (F-90) had a very impressive game in the last round for Amazonas, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 10.
The 31-year old player was the main contributor (40 points, four rebounds and five assists) to her team's victory, helping them to edge out Panteras (#2, 7-3) 76-74. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. Amazonas maintains the 4th position in Panamanian LPB. Amazonas is rather a weak team placed in lower part in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 4-6 record. In the team's last game Garrido had a remarkable 55.6% from 2-point range and got six three-pointers out of 11 attempts. She turned to be Amazonas' top player in her first season with the team. Laura Garrido has solid league stats. She is league's best scorer averaging so far 30.4ppg. Garrido is in league's top in rebounds (7th best: 9.3rpg), assists (5th best: 4.1apg) and averages impressive 1.1bpg and 4.3spg.
The second best player in last round's games was Venezuelan Nathaly Malpica (161-PG) of Atletico. Malpica had a very good evening with 39 points and 4 rebounds. Of course she led Atletico to another comfortable win outscoring slightly higher-ranked LA U (#3, 4-6) 72-47. This victory allowed Atletico to leave bottom place moving a little bit up to 5th position in the standings. Her team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 3-7 record. Malpica is a newcomer at Atletico, but is already one of team's top players. She belongs to the best scorers in the league with 26.0ppg (#2). She also registered 8.0 boards per game.
Third on the list of top players last round was Ecuadorian Lucia Garrido (C/F-92) of league's second-best Panteras. Garrido showcased her all-around game by recording 16 points, fourteen rebounds (!!!) and four assists in the last round. Despite Garrido's great performance Panteras lost 74-76 to #4 ranked Amazonas. But her team cannot count on just a single player as she also needs help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. The last thing Panteras needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams. Their record is 7 victories and 3 lost games. Garrido has a great season in Panama. After only 4 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 19.3ppg (best scorer), rebounds with 14.0rpg (7th best) and assists with 3.8apg (5th best).
Other top performing players last week:
4. Julia Jimenez) of Amazonas - 19 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists

The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
