LPB Round 2 of Semi-Finals. Panteras and Correcaminos advance into Finals

LA U - Panteras 70-84

Panteras outgunned LA U to sweep the series. Panteras outrebounded LA U 47-35 including 17 on the offensive glass. The best player for the winners was naturalized American guard Ashley Reid (165-98, college: Wichita St.) who scored 30 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Ecuadorian power forward Lucia Garrido (-92) chipped in a double-double by scoring 16 points, 15 rebounds and 6 assists. Swingman Diobelis Batista (167-5) produced 24 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and Venezuelan guard Crismar Rojas added 15 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.

Amazonas - Correcaminos 53-70

Correcaminos rallied past Amazonas to ensure the semifinal victory. Correcaminos dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Amazonas' 36. Correcaminos forced 20 Amazonas turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Amazonas' players. Ecuadorian power forward Liliana Angulo (183-90) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!) and 14 rebounds. Colombian forward Mabel Martinez (180-86) contributed with 16 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals for the winners. Correcaminos' coach used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Guard Lirieth Gonzalez (170-1) replied with 15 points and 8 rebounds and Julia Jimenez added 18 points in the effort for Amazonas.
