LPBF Round 1: Leonas lose to LA U

Leonas recorded a loss in Panama City on Friday night. Visitors were defeated by LA U 68-59. LA U forced 21 Leonas turnovers. Mariangel Winnubsts (168-2007) fired 24 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Swingman Diobelis Batista (167-2005) chipped in 9 points and 5 rebounds. LA U's coach used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Venezuelan point guard Nathaly Malpica (161) produced 17 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists for lost side.

Worth to mention a great performance of Salvadorean swingman Yurizell Funes (175-2001) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 11 points and 14 rebounds. Center Natasha Villar (178) answered with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 20 rebounds and 4 blocks for Cobras.
