Nelly Rapalo
Honduran Nelly Rapalo (173-F-1999) had an amazing evening in the last round for league's leader Amazonas and that's her to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 1.
The 23-year old forward had the game-high 27 points adding seven rebounds and five assists for Amazonas in her team's victory, helping them to crush LA U (#2, 1-1) with 17-point margin 78-61. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. It allowed Amazonas to jump to the first place in the Panamanian LPBF. But it's just the very beginning of the season and Amazonas won just one (their first) game. It's too early to say anything as the standings can be changed completely after next round. In the team's last game Rapalo had a remarkable 60.0% from 2-point range. She turned to be Amazonas' top player in her first season with the team. Rapalo has impressive league stats. She is league's best scorer averaging so far 27.0ppg. Rapalo is in league's top in assists (2nd best: 5.0apg) and averages solid 2.0bpg and 60.0% FGP.
The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was center Natasha Villar (178-C) of Cobras. Villar impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 22 points and 20 rebounds. Bad luck as Cobras was edged by Leonas (1-1) 70-69. The season is still at the very beginning and this lost game may not be such crucial, of course if they start win the games. Let's wait for the next round. Villar is a newcomer at Cobras and it seems she did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. She belongs to the best scorers in the league with 22.0ppg (#2). She also registered 20.0 boards per game.
The third best performed player last round was another Cobras' star - Colombian Paola Rivas (178-F). Rivas scored 16 points and grabbed twenty one rebounds (!!!). Despite Rivas' great performance Cobras lost 69-70 to Leonas (#3, 1-1). But her team cannot count on just these two top stars as they also need help of the other teammates. The season just started for Rivas as she played only first game. But it already looks like she can be another team's leader.
Other top performing players last week:
4. Mariangel Winnubsts (168-SG-2007) of LA U - 24 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists
5. Veronica Guedez (170-F-2001) of LA U - 18 points and 14 rebounds

10. Diobelis Batista (167-G/F-2005) of LA U - 18 points and 8 rebounds
The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
