LPBF Round 1: Leonas are defeated by LA U

The Regular Season in LPBF just started. Here is the last round review presented by LBM Management.

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Leonas in Panama City on Friday night. Visitors were defeated by LA U 68-59. LA U forced 21 Leonas turnovers. Mariangel Winnubsts (168-2007) stepped up and scored 24 points and 5 rebounds for the winners and swingman Diobelis Batista (167-2005) chipped in 9 points and 5 rebounds. LA U's coach used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side Venezuelan point guard Nathaly Malpica (161) responded with 17 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists.
Important game to mention about took place in . Leonas saved a 1-point victory at home edging Cobras 70-69 in the game for the second place. Salvadorean swingman Yurizell Funes (175-2001) nailed a double-double by scoring 11 points and 14 rebounds for the winning side and Nathaly Malpica accounted for 19 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Center Natasha Villar (178) came up with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 20 rebounds and 4 blocks for Cobras in the defeat.
Very important is a road loss of LA U against Cobras on Thursday night. Visiting LA U was defeated by Cobras in 63-50. Natasha Villar fired a double-double by scoring 14 points and 18 rebounds for the winners. Cobras' coach used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Katie Caicedo produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 13 rebounds for lost side.

In the last game of round 1 Amazonas won against LA U on the opponent's court 78-61.
