LPBF Round 3: Amazonas are defeated by Cobras- October 29, 2022

Cobras - Amazonas 78-68 The game between Amazonas (3-3) and Cobras (3-4) was the most important one in the last round on Tuesday night. Amazonas were defeated by Cobras on the road 78-68. It was a great evening for Colombian forward Paola Rivas (178) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 17 rebounds. Point guard Lya Gonzalez (167-2007) helped adding 22 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. The best for the losing side was Honduran forward Nelly Rapalo (173-1999) with 9 points, 6 rebounds and 15 assists and Sofia Ponce (174-2007) scored 19 points and 9 rebounds. Cobras are looking forward to face Felinas (#5) in the next round. Amazonas will play against Leonas and it may be a tough game between close rivals. LA U forced 28 Felinas turnovers. The best player for the winners was forward Katie Caicedo (185-2000) who had a double-double by scoring 16 points and 16 rebounds. Venezuelan guard Crismar Rojas chipped in 21 points and 6 rebounds. Four LA U players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was center Katherine Gonzalez (180-2000) who recorded 8 points and 10 rebounds and Esther Vega added 8 points and 5 rebounds respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. LA U will meet at home Cobras (#4) in the next round. Felinas will play against Cobras and it may be a tough game between close rivals. This time they crushed Felinas (1-5) 83-64. Leonas forced 28 Felinas turnovers. Strangely Felinas outrebounded Leonas 58-32 including a 26-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. It was a quality performance for Venezuelan point guard Nathaly Malpica (161) who led the winners and scored 27 points, 8 assists and 4 steals. Salvadorean swingman Yurizell Funes (175-2001) accounted for 10 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists for the winning side. Four Leonas players scored in double figures. Esther Vega came up with 7 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists and Ivanis Gonzalez added 12 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Felinas in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Leonas will play against Amazonas (#3) in Cocle in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Felinas will play against Cobras and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
