Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The biggest surprise of round 6 in LPB was guest Lobos' (#2) road victory over Caballos (#3) 95-92 on Wednesday evening. Lobos dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Caballos' 44. Lobos forced 31 Caballos turnovers. Strangely Caballos outrebounded Lobos 56-39 including a 18-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was Costa Rican point guard Isaac Conejo (182-1994) who had a double-double by scoring 17 points, 12 assists and 5 steals. Costa Rican swingman Daniel Shedden (191-1996, college: MSUB) chipped in 20 points and 8 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Michael Hicks (196-1976, college: TAMUCC) who recorded a double-double by scoring 25 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Caballos' coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Lobos have a solid three-game winning streak. Newly promoted Lobos maintains second position with 6-4 record having four points less than leader Atletico Nacional. Caballos lost third consecutive game. They keep the third place with five games lost. They share the position with Halcones. Lobos are looking forward to face league's leader Atletico in Panama City in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Caballos will play against Centinelas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Another exciting game was played in Aguadulce between second ranked Lobos and one of their biggest challengers Caballos where Lobos (6-4) beat Caballos (5-5) on the road 69-65. It was a good game for Costa Rican swingman Daniel Shedden (191-1996, college: MSUB) who led his team to a victory with 27 points and 6 rebounds. Victor Arias contributed with 13 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Gil Atencio (202-1996, college: St.Clair) replied with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 18 rebounds for Caballos. Caballos' coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Lobos have a solid three-game winning streak. In the last game of round 6 bottom-ranked Universitarios were defeated by Halcones in a road game 81-63.



Atletico Nacional - Centinelas 89-67

Undefeated leader Atletico delivered the tenth consecutive victory on Thursday night. This time they crushed 5th ranked Centinelas (3-7) 89-67 in Panama City. Atletico looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Point guard Joel Munoz (183-1980) had a double-double by scoring 24 points, 13 assists and 4 steals to lead the charge for the winners and Jonathan King (193-1990, college: ACU) chipped in 23 points and 4 steals during the contest. Atletico's coach felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was the former international forward Tyler Gaskins (193-1992, college: St.Peter's) with 19 points and 5 assists and American Antonio Austin (196-1991, college: SDCC) scored 22 points. Atletico (10-0) have an impressive ten-game winning streak. They maintain first position with a perfect record of 10 victories in a row. Newly promoted Centinelas keep the fifth place with seven games lost. Atletico will meet league's second-placed Lobos in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Centinelas will play against Caballos and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Halcones - Universitarios 81-63

There was no surprise when 6th ranked Universitarios (1-9) were defeated on the road by fourth ranked Halcones (5-5) 81-63 on Friday. Halcones made 29-of-38 free shots (76.3 percent) during the game, while Universitarios only scored six points from the stripe. American point guard Kendarius Smith (178-1996, college: N.Alabama) scored 20 points and 7 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Grant Alejandro (199-1993) chipped in 16 points and 4 assists during the contest. Smith is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. The best for the losing side was point guard Jeff Montenegro (180) with 17 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists and point guard Carlos Ibarra (170-1995) produced a double-double by scoring 11 points and 12 rebounds. Four Universitarios players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Halcones moved-up to third place, which they share with Caballos. Universitarios lost eighth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with nine games lost. Halcones will meet Caballos (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Universitarios' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Panama City to the arena Atletico.
