Cobras - Felinas 75-43 The game between closely ranked teams ended with fourth ranked Cobras' (5-5) home victory over bottom-ranked Felinas (3-7) 75-43 on Saturday. Colombian Laura Garrido (172-1997) nailed 30 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side and point guard Lya Gonzalez (167-2007) accounted for 15 points and 5 assists. Costa Rican point guard Maria Alfaro (163-1998) came up with 8 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Yamileth Rodriguez added 10 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Felinas in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Cobras moved-up to second place, which they share with LA U. Felinas at the other side, also newcomer in the league, stay at the bottom position with seven games lost. Cobras will meet at home LA U (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Felinas will play against LA U and it may be a tough game between close rivals. Venezuelan point guard Nathaly Malpica (161) nailed a double-double by scoring 27 points, 6 rebounds and 11 assists for the winning side and Venezuelan Amanda Torres (170-1989) accounted for 16 points, 11 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals. Four Leonas players scored in double figures. Venezuelan guard Crismar Rojas came up with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists and Mariangel Concha (173-2004) added 10 points and 17 rebounds respectively for LA U in the defeat. LA U's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Leonas have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. Newly promoted Leonas maintains first place with 7-2 record. Second ranked LA U (5-5) saved a 3-point victory at home edging 3rd placed Amazonas (4-5) 62-59 on Tuesday evening. It was a key game for the second position in the league. LA U forced 30 Amazonas turnovers. Strangely Amazonas outrebounded LA U 60-39 including a 26-15 advantage in offensive rebounds. Venezuelan guard Crismar Rojas stepped up and scored 30 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and Venezuelan forward Veronica Guedez (170-2001) chipped in 14 points and 9 rebounds. Colombian center Libia De la Rosa (185-1992) responded with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 17 rebounds and center Gloria Martinez (181) produced a double-double by scoring 18 points and 15 rebounds. LA U have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain second place with 5-5 record having just one point less than leader Leonas, which they share with Cobras. Amazonas at the other side dropped to the fourth position with five games lost. LA U will play against league's second-placed Cobras in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Amazonas will play against the league's leader Leonas and hope to get back on the winning track.
