Caribbean Storm Islands (Liga Wplay) tabbed experienced 36-year old Panamanian 205cm power forward Josimar Ayarza (college: Southern Miss) for new season. It is actually his comeback to Storm as he has played here before. Ayarza played this summer at Titanes in the Liga WPlay. In 17 Liga Wplay games just recently he was league's third best scorer with impressive 15.9ppg and recorded 5.6rpg. He helped them to win the regular season and make it to the semifinals. Ayarza can count that season as a very successful as was voted to Latinbasket.com All-Colombian LPB Apertura Second Team.
He represented Panama at the Central American Games in Managua (Nicaragua) six years ago.
Ayarza is a very experienced player. He has played also professionally in Argentina (Echague, Lanus, Dep Viedma, Sportivo 9 de Julio Rio Tercero and Estudiantes Concordia), Brazil, Chile (Concepcion and Los Leones), Mexico (Correcaminos, Fuerza Regia, Caballeros de Culiacan and Jefes), Paraguay (Libertad Asuncion), Puerto Rico, Uruguay (Welcome and Bigua), Venezuela, Panama (Correcaminos and Caballos) and Nicaragua (Real Esteli).
Among many awards he won Colombian LPB Clausura championship title in 2021. Ayarza received Latinbasket.com All-Panamanian LPB Player of the Year award back in 2020.
It may be one of last seasons in his extensive career, which he may end at Carrib.Storm.
He graduated from University of Southern Mississippi in 2011 and it will be his 14th (hopefully lucky) (!!!) season in pro basketball. Ayarza played also for Cuesta College for 2 years.
