USA - U.S. Virgin Islands 119-84
USA crushed US Virgin Islands in the opener. Alpha Diallo (201-G-97) came up with 20 points and 11 rebounds to lead the winners. USA grabbed a 39:23 lead after ten minutes. They added 63 points in the second half to cruise to the victory. Myles Powell (188-G-97) had 19 points in the win. Ivan Aska (201-F-90, college: Murray St.) and Devon Peltier (181-PG-87, college: CS Fullerton) netted 16 points each for US Virgin Islands.

Puerto Rico - Venezuela 73-64
Puerto Rico prevailed against Venezuela in the first game in Lima. Venezuela recorded a 30:26 halftime lead. But Puerto Rico stepped on the gas in the second half. They poured in 47 points and rallied to the win. Devon Collier (203-PF-91, college: Oregon St.) led well-balanced effort with 13 points. Nestor Colmenares (203-PF-87, college: Campbellsville, agency: Pro Sports) and Jhornan Zamora (196-G/F-89) responded with 12 points each for Venezuela.

Group B

Argentina - Uruguay 102-65
Argentina crushed Uruguay to open win count in Lima. Argentina opened the game on a 27:2 run and never looked back afterwards. Gabriel Deck (199-SF-95) came up with 23 points for the winners. Luis Scola (206-F/C-80) added 16 points and 8 rebounds in the victory. Luciano Parodi (182-PG-94) answered with 11 points for Uruguay.

Mexico - Dominican Republic 61-65 OT
Sadiel Rojas (195-G/F-89, college: OKWU) and Juan Miguel Suero (198-PG-93) scored 13 points each as Dominican Republic outlasted Mexico in overtime. Dominican Republic led by 14 points at the first break. Mexico replied with a 36:22 run in the second half to force overtime. But Dominican Republic dropped 10 points in the extra period to secure the win. Jose David Estrada (194-G-94, agency: Pro Sports) notched 18 points for Mexico.
