Group AVenezuela - USA 53-70Myles Powell (188-G-97) nailed 30 points to lead USA past Venezuela. USA earned a 34:29 halftime lead. USA sank 36 points in the second half and rolled to the victory. Geoffrey Groselle (212-C-93, college: Creighton) had 11 points for the winners. Nestor Colmenares (203-PF-87, college: Campbellsville, agency: Pro Sports) answered with 16 points for Venezuela. U.S. Virgin Islands - Puerto Rico 89-101 Puerto Rico defeated US Virgin Islands for the second straight win in Group A. Puerto Rico grabbed a 59:27 halftime lead. US Virgin Islands drained 62 points in the second half but could not escape the loss. Isaac Sosa Carrion (190-G-90, college: Canisius) posted 25 points, while Benito Santiago (198-F-89, college: Cumberlands) added 16 points for Puerto Rico. Walter Hodge (183-PG-86, college: Florida) replied with 27 points for US Virgin Islands. Group BDominican Republic - Argentina 97-102 OTArgentina outlasted Dominican Republic in overtime to earn 2-0 record in Group B. Gabriel Deck (199-SF-95) stepped up with 24 points to lead the effort. Facundo Campazzo (181-PG-91) added 17 points, 7 assists and 6 rebounds for the winning side. Adris De Leon (180-PG-84, college: EWU) answered with 21 points for Dominican Republic. Uruguay - Mexico 72-61 Uruguay opened win count in Lima. They held off Mexico for 1-1 record. Uruguay accounted for a 30:24 halftime lead. Mexico surged ahead in the third term. They entered the fourth stanza up by two points. But Uruguay used a 28:15 run in the final frame to rally to the win. Martin Rojas (197-F-98) netted 19 points, while Luciano Parodi (182-PG-94) added 16 points for Uruguay. Jose Zesati (205-C-94) provided 19 points for Mexico. |
