Argentina and Puerto Rico reach Final in Lima- August 4, 2019
SEMISPuerto Rico - Dominican Republic 65-63Puerto Rico topped Dominican Republic to enter the title game. Dominican Republic snatched an 18:13 lead after ten minutes. But Puerto Rico went on a 21:8 run in the second quarter to get an 8-point halftime lead. They extended the gap at 9-point mark at the final intermission and hung on to secure the victory in the fourth quarter. Isaac Sosa Carrion (190-G-90, college: Canisius) produced 13 points, while Devon Collier (203-PF-91, college: Oregon St.) added 12 points for the winners. Eloy Vargas (211-C-88, college: Kentucky, agency: Duran International) and Juan Miguel Suero (198-PG-93) answered with 15 points each for Dominican Republic. Argentina - USA 114-75 Argentina smashed USA to advance into the championship game in Lima. Argentina dominated from start to finish in this one. They posted a massive 61:36 halftime lead. The Latin American side dropped 53 points in the second half to ease to the win. Gabriel Deck (199-SF-95) delivered 23 points, while Luis Scola (206-F/C-80) and Nicolas Laprovittola (190-PG-90) added 18 points each for the winners. David Duke (196-G-99) replied with 16 points for USA. 5-6 PlaceVenezuela - Uruguay 78-68Venezuela finished fifth at the championship. They beat Uruguay in the final game in Lima. Jhornan Zamora (196-G/F-89) produced 15 points to lead the winners. Uruguay enjoyed a 25:19 lead after ten minutes. But Venezuela cut the distance to a single point at halftime. They used a 19:9 run in the fourth term to snatch the win. Nestor Colmenares (203-PF-87, college: Campbellsville, agency: Pro Sports) had 14 points for Venezuela. Martin Rojas (197-F-98) replied with 17 points for Uruguay. 7-8 PlaceU.S. Virgin Islands - Mexico 81-92Mexico wrapped up their Lima campaign on a winning note. They toppled US Virgin Islands to clinch the 7th position. Mexico went on a strong 54:24 first half run. US Virgin Islands narrowed the gap in the third term but Mexico sank 26 points in the final stanza and raced to the win. Jorge Camacho (203-F-89, college: EKU) posted 18 points, while Jaime Jaquez (198-G/F-01) added 17 points for Mexico. Walter Hodge (183-PG-86, college: Florida) replied with 25 points for US Virgin Islands. |
