Paola Ferrari (178-G/F-85, college: Union, TN) replied with 10 points and 7 rebounds for Paraguay. Canada - Puerto Rico 63-72 Puerto Rico toppled Canada to finish second in Group A. Puerto Rico posted a 40:28 halftime advantage. Canada pulled within 7 points at the final break. But conceded 20 points in the fourth stanza to surrender at the end. Jazmon Gwathmey (188-G-93, college: JMU) delivered 22 points, while Pamela Rosado (165-PG-86) and Isalys Quinones (190-F-97) added 11 points each for Puerto Rico. Jamie Weisner-Scott (178-SF-94, college: Oregon St., agency: LBM Management) responded with 16 points for Canada. Group BArgentina - U.S. Virgin Islands 73-59Argentina fired past US Virgin Islands to record the first win in Lima. Argentina built a 38:30 halftime lead. They went on an 18:11 run in the fourth term to seal the win. Victoria Llorente (180-F/C-96) tossed in 19 points, while Andrea Boquete (183-SF-90) added 16 points for the winners. Anisha George (188-C-98) topscored with 32 points and 14 rebounds in the loss. USA - Colombia 75-63 USA held off Colombia to achieve the third straight win in Lima. The North American side accumulated a 47:21 halftime lead. Colombia managed to narrow the distance in the second half but could not avoid the loss. Beatrice Mompremier (193-F-96) posted 15 points, while Michaela Onyenwere (183-F-99) had 14 points and 9 caroms for the winners. Jenifer Munoz (170-G-91) replied with 11 points for Colombia. |
