Brazil and USA reach championship game in Lima

Brazil - Colombia 62-48
Brazil knocked down Colombia to advance into the championship game. Colombia enjoyed a 17:13 lead after ten minutes. But Brazil responded with a 36:18 run in the next two periods to spur ahead for good. Clarissa Dos Santos (188-C-88) notched 18 points and 13 rebounds, while Erika De Souza (197-C-82) added 13 points for Brazil. Jenifer Munoz (170-G-91) replied with 9 points for Colombia.

USA - Puerto Rico 62-59
USA held off Puerto Rico to ensure the Final berth. USA snatched a narrow 33:30 halftime lead. USA boosted the lead at 4-point mark at the final break. Puerto Rico held USA to just 12 points in the fourth term but came up short at the end. Beatrice Mompremier (193-F-96) and Chennedy Carter (170-G-98) tossed in 14 points each for the winners. Jennifer ONeill replied with 19 points for Puerto Rico.
5-6 Place
Canada - Argentina 54-59
Argentina finished fifth at the tournament. They topped Canada in Lima on Friday. Argentina built a 17:9 lead after ten minutes. Canada pulled within 2 points at the big break 23:25. But Argentina used a 20:8 run in the third stanza to clear off for good. Andrea Boquete (183-SF-90) netted 18 points, while Agostina Burani (186-F/C-91) added 12 points and 9 rebounds for Argentina. Shaina Pellington (170-G-99) replied with 18 points and 10 rebounds for Canada.

7-8 Place
Paraguay - U.S. Virgin Islands 69-61
Paraguay outscored US Virgin Islands to claim the seventh position in Lima. Paraguay posted a 23:14 lead ten minutes into the game. US Virgin Islands narrowed the distance at 3-point mark at the final break. But Paraguay ignited a 15:10 run in the fourth frame to secure the winning outcome. Paola Ferrari (178-G/F-85, college: Union, TN) tallied 28 points, 7 assists and 6 rebounds, while Tamara Insfran (175-G/F-89, college: Cumberland) added 15 points for Paraguay. Anisha George (188-C-98) replied with 19 points and 13 rebounds for US Virgin Islands.
