LNB Round 8: Colonias G. lose to Paranaense

There are only two more rounds left in the Regular Season in LNB. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

Round 8 most important game was a defeat of league's leader Colonias G. (4-2). They were defeated by third ranked Paranaense (2-3) 85-75 on Tuesday night. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Colonias G.. Paranaense forced 19 Colonias G. turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Karls Godans (190) who helped to win the game recording 21 points and 5 rebounds and power forward Elias Sosa (194-80) who added 12 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Nicolas Hepp responded with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Paranaense maintains third position in Group A with 2-3 record having just one point less than leader San Jose. Colonias G. at the other side dropped to the second place with two games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by San Jose. Colonias G. will play next round against league's leader San Jose trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Paranaense will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game.
Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Asuncion: San Jose (#2) and Sol de America (#4). Sol de America was smashed at home by 45 points 59-104 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. The winners were led by Argentinian Tobias Gomez who scored that evening 16 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists and Fernando Dose supported him with 19 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Even 21 points by Marco De Felice (-97) did not help to save the game for Sol de America. Sol de America's coach gave up on the game allowing to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win. San Jose have a solid four-game winning streak. They keep a position of Group A leader. Sol de America at the other side still closes the standings with six games lost. San Jose will play against league's second-placed Colonias G. in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Sol de America will have a break next round.

Ciudad N. was defeated at home 68-78 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. The best player for the winners was Jorge Sequera who scored 17 points and 5 rebounds. Hugo Paredes produced 18 points and 6 rebounds for the hosts. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Libertad A. have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position in Group B with 4-0 record. Loser Ciudad N. keeps the third place with three games lost. Libertad A. will meet San Alfonso (#4) in the next round. Ciudad N. will have a break next round.

The most impressive stats of the last round was 9 points and 7 rebounds by Nelson Peralta of Ciudad N..

Sol de America - San Jose 59-104

Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Asuncion: San Jose (#2) and Sol de America (#4). Sol de America was smashed at home by 45 points 59-104 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. San Jose dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Sol de America's 34. San Jose forced 19 Sol de America turnovers and had a 35-22 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 27 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Sol de America's players. The winners were led by Argentinian Tobias Gomez who scored that evening 16 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists and the former international forward Fernando Dose (200-94) supported him with 19 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Five San Jose players scored in double figures. Even 21 points by Marco De Felice (-97) did not help to save the game for Sol de America. Ricardo Sarubi added 5 points and 5 rebounds for the hosts. The former international point guard Manuel Aponte (179-92) chipped in 9 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Forward Hugo Paredes (198-84) produced 18 points and 6 rebounds and Lucas Saldivar added 19 points respectively for the hosts.
