LNB Round 10: Felix Perez is defeated by San Jose in a derby game

The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Asuncion: San Jose (#1) and Felix Perez (#3). San Jose (10-0) smashed visiting Felix Perez (6-4) by 33 points 95-62. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Felix Perez. San Jose dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Felix Perez's 38. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by Felix Perez's players. Argentinian forward Franco Benitez (199-1994) scored 14 points and 9 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the former international forward Fernando Dose (200-1994) chipped in 15 points during the contest. At the losing side Argentinian Pablo Alderete (203-1993) responded with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 10 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Undefeated San Jose have an impressive ten-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 10-0 record. Felix Perez at the other side keeps the third place with four games lost. They share the position with Libertad A. and Colonias G.. San Jose's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Asuncion Colonias G..
Another interesting game was again a derby between two teams from Asuncion: Olimpia K. (#2) and Colonias G. (#3). Colonias G. was defeated at home 77-81 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Colonias G.. American guard Thomas Cooper (196-1992, college: Calgary) notched a double-double by scoring 25 points and 11 rebounds to lead the effort and Ignacio Alessio supported him with 28 points (perfect from downtown making all five shots). Olimpia K.'s coach Carlos Romano allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Even 20 points by Argentinian point guard Stefano Pierotti (185-1998) did not help to save the game for Colonias G.. Olimpia K. maintains second position with 8-2 record having just two points less than leader San Jose. Colonias G. at the other side keeps the third place with four games lost. They share the position with Felix Perez and Libertad A.. Olimpia K.'s supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Asuncion Libertad A..
Another interesting game was again a derby match of two local teams from Asuncion: Libertad A. (#5) and Atletico C. (#6). Libertad A. (6-4) smashed visiting Atletico C. (2-8) by 38 points 112-74. Rodney Mercado fired 29 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Libertad A.'s coach Cristian Viveros felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Daniel Jara produced a double-double by scoring 11 points, 13 rebounds and 9 assists for lost side. Libertad A. moved-up to third place, which they share with Felix Perez and Colonias G. Atletico C. lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with eight games lost. They share it with Campo Alto. Libertad A.'s supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Asuncion to the arena Olimpia K..

In the last game of round 10 Campo Alto won against Sol de America on the opponent's court 69-64.
