The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Asuncion: Olimpia K. (#2) and Libertad A. (#5). Olimpia K. (5-2) smashed visiting Libertad A. (3-4) by 26 points 88-62. Olimpia K. forced 19 Libertad turnovers and outrebounded them 41-25 including a 32-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. The former international forward Gabriel Peralta (203-1995) orchestrated the victory by scoring 14 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. The former international Rodney Mercado (191-1999) contributed with 18 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. The former international forward Jorge Sequera (194-1988) replied with 17 points for Libertad. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Olimpia K. have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 5-2 record behind leader San Jose, which they share with Colonias. Libertad lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the fourth place with four games lost. They share the position with Felix Perez. Olimpia K.'s supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Asuncion Felix Perez.
Another interesting game was again a derby between two teams from Asuncion: Colonias (#3) and Felix Perez (#4). Felix Perez was defeated at home 61-67 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Felix Perez. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Dwayne Russell (203-1998, college: St.Thomas, FL) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 21 points and 13 rebounds and Juan Poisson who added 10 points, 16 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals during the contest. The former international center Alen Juarez (201-2000) responded with 16 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Colonias (5-2) have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Olimpia K. Felix Perez at the other side keeps the fourth position with four games lost. They share it with Libertad. Colonias' supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Asuncion .
