Here is the weekly review of the top performing Puerto Rican players, who play currently abroad.

Alexander Abreu
Alexander Abreu
#1. This week's number one is former international shooting guard Alexander Abreu (179-1991, college: UWG, currently plays in Venezuela). He was the major contributor in Guaros' victory against the second-ranked Brillantes (7-7) 99-87 in the Venezuelan SPB in Wednesday night's game. Abreu scored 21 points, had 5 rebounds and dished 6 assists in 33 minutes on the court; quite an impressive performance considering it's only his first season in pro basketball. Guaros de Lara (5-8) is placed fourth in West-B group. Abreu has relatively good stats this year: 12.5ppg, 5.0rpg, 5.5apg, 1.5spg and FT: 71.4% in two games he played so far. Former Coamo starter played for the Puerto Rican senior national team year ago.

Luis Gonzalez
Luis Gonzalez
#2. Second place goes to former U16 international point guard Luis Gonzalez (183-1997, college: PR-Bayamon, currently plays in Nicaragua). Gonzalez led Leones MGA to a victory over one of league's weakest teams Occidentales (1-6) crushing them 90-51 in the Nicaraguan LSB on Friday night. He was MVP of the game. Gonzalez scored 25 points, made 6 passes and 4 steals (was perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line) in 39 minutes. Leones de Managua (5-2) is placed third in the LSB. The Regular Season already ended. Gonzalez has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 24.0ppg, 2.9rpg, 4.6apg, 1.3spg, 2FGP: 46.9%, 3FGP: 37.3% and FT: 87.5% in seven games. Gonzalez played for the Puerto Rican U16 national team in 13.

Leandro Allende
Leandro Allende
#3. The Puerto Rican player who performed third best last week abroad was former U19 international forward Leandro Allende (198-1998, college: Barry, currently plays in Nicaragua). He contributed to an easy victory against the closely-ranked Rivas (14-5) crushing them 102-70 in the Nicaraguan LSB in Sunday night's game. Allende scored 17 points and had 3 steals. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Real Esteli (8-0) is placed first in the LSB. So far his team won all eight games in the Regular Season. The Regular Season already ended. This season Allende has relatively solid stats: 13.1ppg, 3.1rpg, 3FGP: 46.7%(14-30) and FT: 66.7%. He played for the Puerto Rican U19 national team year ago.

Felix Mendez
Felix Mendez
#4. Forward Felix Mendez (201-2002, currently plays in Nicaragua). Mendez could not help Indigenas (3-6) to beat Real Esteli (13-5). He recorded only 4 points in 18 minutes. Indigenas was crushed 109-69 at home by the lower-ranked (#7) Real Esteli. It was Indigenas' third consecutive loss in a row. The Regular Season already ended. This year Mendez's overall stats are: 1.6ppg and 1.3rpg in nine games. He used to play for the Puerto Rican U17 national team back in 19.

The list of other players, who all have Puerto Rican passport but never been selected to any of Puerto Rican national teams:

#1. Ismael Cruz (190-G-2001, college: Indian Hills, currently plays in Nicaragua) led Real Esteli to a victory over the 14th-ranked Indigenas (7-12) crushing them 109-69 in the Nicaraguan LSB last Wednesday. He was MVP of the game. Cruz recorded a double-double by scoring 42 points and making 10 passes; not bad, considering it's only his first season in pro basketball. Real Esteli (8-0) is placed first in the LSB. So far his team won all eight games in the Regular Season. The Regular Season already ended. Cruz has individually a very good season with high stats. He averages: 29.3ppg, 5.7rpg, 5.8apg and 1.7spg.

#2. Experienced Roberto Nieves (194-G-1982, college: Valpo, currently plays in Nicaragua) could not help Occidentales (1-6) in their last game on Friday. Despite Nieves' very good performance Occidentales was crushed 90-51 on the road by the one of league's weakest teams Leones MGA (#9). He was the second best scorer with 15 points. Nieves also added 4 rebounds and dished 5 assists. The Regular Season already ended. This season Nieves has very high stats. He averages: 20.7ppg, 3.5rpg, 4.5apg and 2.7spg.

#3. Hector Rodriguez (G/F-1994, currently plays in Nicaragua) is a teammate of previously mentioned Roberto Nieves and both played together in the last Nicaraguan LSB game. Rodriguez was not able to help Occidentales in their game against Leones MGA (13-6). He cannot count it as his best performance. Rodriguez scored only 3 points and had 3 steals in 14 minutes. Occidentales was crushed 90-51 in Managua by the one of league's weakest teams (#9) Leones MGA. This year Rodriguez's total stats are: 2.1ppg, 1.4apg and 1.4spg in seven games he played so far.
