However their fans expected easier game. Derrick Walton Jr notched a double-double by scoring 25 points and 11 assists to lead the effort. Capitanes' coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Even a double-double of 22 points, 6 rebounds and 10 assists by Nathan Sobey did not help to save the game for Mayaguez. Capitanes have a solid four-game winning streak. Arecibo maintains second position with 12-4 record having four points less than leader San German. Loser Indios keeps the fourth place with ten games lost. Arecibo will meet Mayaguez (#4) on the road in the next round. Mayaguez will have a break next round.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 14: Guaynabo was smashed by Carolina on the road 96-76. Manati won against Caguas on its own court 94-89. Quebradillas unfortunately lost to Aguada in a road game 94-96.



Carolina - Guaynabo 96-76

The game between closely ranked teams ended with third ranked Gigantes' (9-7) home victory over one of their biggest challengers Mets (8-9) in Carolina 96-76 on Saturday. Carolina looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Guaynabo's players. American forward Scottie James Jr (202-1996, college: Liberty) notched 18 points and 9 rebounds to lead the effort and the former international point guard Tremont Waters (180-1998, college: LSU, agency: Shark Sports Management) supported him with 12 points, 12 assists and 6 steals. Even 22 points and 9 rebounds by American forward Torrey Craig (198-1990, college: USC Upstate) did not help to save the game for Guaynabo. International center Ismael Romero (205-1991) added 14 points and 5 rebounds for the guests. Five Carolina and four Guaynabo players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Gigantes have a solid three-game winning streak.
