Hassan Whiteside gets MVP of the Week award for Puerto Rican BSN- March 31, 2023
The 33-year old center had a double-double of 43 points and nineteen rebounds, while his team beat Ponce (#5, 1-2) 99-89. It allowed Quebradillas to consolidate first place in the Puerto Rican BSN. They maintain a perfect record without any lost game in the league. The season is still on an early stage, but Quebradillas already had a very good start winning all 4 without losing a single one. In the team's last game Whiteside had a remarkable 57.7% from 2-point range. He just recently signed at Quebradillas, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Marshall University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Whiteside is league's best scorer averaging so far 26.5ppg and leads league in rebounds with 16.5rpg. Whiteside is in league's top in and averages solid 2.8bpg,52.4% FGP and 60.0% from behind 3-point line. The second most remarkable performance in last week's games was young American power forward Thomas Robinson (208-PF-1991) of Humacao. Robinson impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 24 points and 15 rebounds. Bad luck as Humacao lost that game 78-90 to Group A's leader San German (#2, 3-0). Humacao managed to keep the same 6th spot in Group A. 4 lost games are too many considering they did not win any game. Robinson is one of the most experienced players at Humacao and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. The third best performed player last week was Australian Mitch Creek (196-F/G-1992) of Guaynabo (#5). Creek got into 30-points club by scoring 31 points in the last week. He went also for seven rebounds . Despite Creek's great performance Guaynabo lost 103-108 to slightly higher-ranked Santurce (#4, 2-2). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. Guaynabo can only dream about fighting for top spots in Group B. They have rather bad season and 1-3 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Creek has individually a great season in Puerto Rico. After only 4 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 22.0ppg (4th best). Other top performing players last week: 4. Tu Holloway (183-PG-1989) of Santurce - 28 points, 3 rebounds and 5 assists 5. Jacob Wiley (203-C-1994) of Bayamon - 21 points and 3 assists 6. Jordan Cintron (203-F-1998) of Mayaguez - 13 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists 7. Eric Paschall (198-F-1996) of Ponce - 25 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists 8. Norris Cole (188-PG-1988) of San German - 20 points, 4 rebounds and 7 assists 9. Tony Bishop (202-F-1989) of San German - 21 points and 4 rebounds 10. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
