Knight number one in Puerto Rico BSN for week 9- April 11, 2023
The 31-year old player was the main contributor (30 points, three rebounds and seven assists) to his team's victory, helping them to edge out Manati (#6, 2-8) 94-90. It allowed Quebradillas to consolidate first place in the Puerto Rican BSN. Quebradillas have a solid 8-1 record. In the team's last game Knight had a remarkable six three-pointers out of 9 attempts. He just recently signed at Quebradillas, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Former University of Kentucky star has very solid stats this year. Knight is league's best scorer averaging so far 24.3ppg. Knight is in league's top in assists (6th best: 6.1apg) and averages impressive 42.1% from behind 3-point line. The second best player in last week's games was young American center Timajh Parker-Rivera (202-C-1994) of Humacao. Parker-Rivera had a very good evening with a double-double of 16 points and 14 rebounds. Bad luck as Humacao lost that game 82-101 to slightly higher-ranked Ponce (#5, 4-4). Humacao managed to keep the same 5th spot in Group A. 7 lost games are too many comparing to just two victories Humacao managed to get this year. Parker-Rivera is one of the most experienced players at Humacao and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. Third on the list of top players last week was American guard Elfrid Payton (191-G-1994) of Manati (#6). Payton scored 22 points and passed six assists. Despite Payton's great performance Manati lost 90-94 to the higher-ranked Quebradillas (#1, 8-1). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. Manati can only dream about fighting for top spots in Group A. They have rather bad season and 2-8 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Payton has individually a great season in Puerto Rico. After only 5 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in assists with 7.4apg (best passer). Other top performing players last week: 4. Emmanuel Andujar (197-F-1993) of Fajardo - 12 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists 5. Jezreel De Jesus (185-G-1991) of Ponce - 26 points and 5 assists 6. Christian Negron (201-F-1998) of Ponce - 14 points, 10 rebounds and 3 assists 7. Mitch Creek (196-F/G-1992) of Guaynabo - 19 points, 11 rebounds and 3 assists 8. Earl Clark (208-PF-1988) of Carolina - 27 points and 5 rebounds 9. Luis Hernandez (206-F-1988) of San German - 18 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists 10. Hassan Whiteside (213-C-1989) of Quebradillas - 21 points and 8 rebounds The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
