The NBA is home to some of the best basketball players from around the world. It's a league that promotes diversity and culture. There are several Latin American players in the league, who have brought an incredible amount of talent to their team. It's still only the beginning of the 2024/25 season, we are only at week four. However, there have already been some incredible games so far. So let's take a closer look at these player's performances in the 2024/25 season so far.

José Alvarado

While Alvarado is from Brooklyn, New York, he is also of Puerto Rican descent. He even represented Puerto Rico at the international level on many different occasions. He first started in the NBA back in 2021 when he signed to play with the New Orleans Pelicans. This season, Alvardo is still playing with the New Orleans Pelicans as a Point Guard. Unfortunately, it's not been a great start to the season for the Pelicans, who are 14th in the standings for the Western Conference. The team is experiencing a streak of bad luck with multiple injuries this season. While the team might be suffering, Alvardo is working hard to try and make up for their bad luck. Even though Friday's game against the Orlando Magic resulted in a loss. Alvardo was still able to put on an impressive performance closing with 21 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals. This performance left fans feeling hopeful for the rest of the season. However, Monday night's game changed that thinking when Alvarado ended up having to come off the court with a small injury complaint. While he still returned to the court in the final quarter, many fans are worried that the injury could cause problems later down the line, especially as there are already so many injuries on the team already.

Gui Santos

Santos is from the Brasília, Federal District in Brazil and joined the NBA back in 2022. He was selected 55th overall and joined the Golden State Warriors. He then went on to join their NBA G League affiliate, the Santa Cruz Warriors. This season he is still playing with the Warriors as a Forward. The Warriors are currently standing in 3rd on the Western Conference. Santos is currently averaging 4 minutes per game which is less than the average of 8.3 minutes per game last season. While this may seem like a decrease, the season has only just begun. Things can change very quickly, especially when it comes to injuries and roster changes. This has meant the player has had less opportunity to showcase his talents this season.

Devin Booker

Booker is another NBA star with a Latin American Lineage, coming from Mexican descent. Booker joined the NBA back in 2015, playing for the Phoneix Suns. This season he continues to play for the Phoneix Suns, who are currently in 2nd place in the Western Conference standings. Booker is a favorite among fans, particularly when it comes to placing prop bets on the league. Many fans use Caesars' sportsbook promo codes to place those wagers on the NBA.

While the team seems to be thriving, things are slightly different for Booker. While his performance at the start was great, week three came with some struggles. The player dropped from an average of 33.7 points in Week 2, to 17.8 in Week 3. Unfortunately, his streak of bad luck didn't end with a loss against the Sacramento Kings in week 4. However, it's still early on in the season for both Booker and the Phoneix Suns. Fans still have hope for the team, especially as they are still ranking 2nd.

Jaime Jaquez Jr.

Jaquez plays for Miami Heat and is a Mexican-American player. He first joined the NBA back in 2023 with Miami Heat. Jaquez was very quickly labeled as a player to watch after a standout college career at UCLA. Miami Heat haven't had as strong of a start as other teams this season, sitting in 7th place in the Eastern Conference. It's also been a difficult start to the season for Jaquez, the player has unfortunately had to miss recent games due to illness. He was absent from Friday's game and although he was at Sunday's game, he only played 16 minutes off the bench, finishing with seven points, five rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block. However, in this game against the Timberwolves, Miami Heat were still able to take the win. But it was a very close call. While it may have been a difficult start to the season for Jaquez, there's still time for him to come back and showcase his talents when he is back to full health.

All in all, it's great to celebrate and support players in the NBA from Latin America, as well as those who are decent from the region too. This is all a great example of just how diverse the NBA is becoming, with players from all around the world joining the league.
