Kobi Simmons gets MVP of the Week award for Puerto Rican BSN (by Hoops Agents)

American Kobi Simmons (196-G-1997) put on an amazing game in the last week for Gigantes de Carolina and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for week 17.
The 27-year old guard had the game-high 33 points adding four rebounds and eight assists for Carolina in his team's victory, helping them to crush Guaynabo (#5, 8-11) with 18-point margin 112-94. Gigantes maintains the 4th position in their group in the Puerto Rican BSN. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Carolina will need more victories to improve their 9-7 record. In the team's last game Simmons had a remarkable 69.2% from 2-point range and got four three-pointers out of 7 attempts. He just recently signed at Gigantes, being already a very valuable addition to the team. University of Arizona graduate has very impressive stats this year. Simmons is in league's top in points (5th best: 19.4ppg), assists (9th best: 5.1apg) and averages solid 64.9% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last week's games was young U.S. Virgin Islands power forward Jordan Murphy (200-F/C-1997) of Leones de Ponce. Murphy impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 26 points and 12 rebounds. It was enough for Leones to edge slightly lower-ranked Aguada (#6, 4-13) by 4 points 108-104. Ponce's 4th position in Group A has not changed. His team's 9-9 record is not bad at all. Murphy is one of the most experienced players at Ponce and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.

The third best performed player last week was another Ponce's star - American Matt Mooney (189-G-1997). Mooney scored 27 points and passed 10 assists (!!!). He was another key player of Leones de Ponce, helping his team with a 108-104 win against slightly lower-ranked Aguada (#6, 4-13). Leones needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams in Group A. Their record at this point is 9 victories and 9 lost games. Mooney has a great season in Puerto Rico. After 11 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in assists with 5.6apg (4th best).

7. Danilo Gallinari (208-F-1988) of Bayamon - 27 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists
8. Gabe York (190-SG-1993) of San German - 17 points, 10 rebounds and 12 assists
9. Emmanuel Mudiay (196-G-1996) of Quebradillas - 25 points, 4 rebounds and 5 assists
10. Chris Duarte (197-G/F-1997) of Bayamon - 26 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists
