The most crucial game of the last round was another loss of Vaqueros (18-7) in Bayamon on Monday night. Hosts were edged by Piratas (14-8) 93-91. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Quebradillas looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was DR Congolese guard Emmanuel Mudiay (196-1996) who scored 38 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 7 assists. American center Thomas Robinson (203-1991, college: Kansas) chipped in 20 points and 8 rebounds. American center Javale McGee (213-1988, college: Nevada) produced 21 points and 7 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) for the hosts. Piratas have an impressive eight-game winning streak. Quebradillas keep a position of league leader which they share with defeated Bayamon. Bayamon at the other side still keeps top place with seven games lost. Important game to mention about took place in Arecibo. Second ranked Piratas (14-8) saved a 3-point victory on the road edging top-ranked Capitanes (14-11) 102-99 in the game for the first place. A very close game took place in Carolina between Gigantes and Vaqueros. Fourth ranked Gigantes (10-9) got a very close home victory over top-ranked Vaqueros (18-7). Gigantes managed to escape with a 2-point win 93-91 on Thursday evening. Worth to mention a great performance of Kobi Simmons who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 27 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists. Danilo Gallinari responded with 24 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Defending champion maintains fourth position with 10-9 record. Loser Vaqueros still keeps top place with seven games lost. Carolina will meet league's leader Quebradillas on the road in the next round and it may be the game of the week.
