27-year old Dominican Rep. swingman Chris Duarte (197-G/F-1997) put on an amazing game in the last week for league's best team Vaqueros de Bayamon and receives a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for week 27.
He had the game-high 38 points adding six rebounds and four assists for Bayamon in his team's victory, helping them to crush Ponce (#4, 14-16) with 19-point margin 107-88. It allowed Vaqueros to consolidate first place in the Puerto Rican league. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Bayamon has a very solid 23-8 record, but they cannot be too comfortable about keeping top position. In the team's last game Duarte had a remarkable 61.5% from 2-point range and got five three-pointers out of 9 attempts. He just recently signed at Vaqueros, being already a very valuable addition to the team. University of Oregon graduate has very impressive stats this year. Duarte is in league's top in points (2nd best: 21.0ppg), assists (9th best: 5.2apg) and averages solid 56.7% FGP.

Second best performed player last week was Ismael Romero (205-C-1991) of Mets de Guaynabo. He is naturalized Cuban center in his first season at Guaynabo. In the last game Romero recorded an impressive double-double of 29 points and 16 rebounds. Of course Mets cruised to a 112-105 relatively comfortable win over slightly higher-ranked Ponce (#4, 14-16). Guaynabo's 5th position in Group A has not changed. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 10-20 record. Romero is one of the most experienced players at Guaynabo and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 18.3ppg (#8). He also registered 10.1 boards per game.

Third place about best performers goes to guard Andre Curbelo (183-G-2001) of Atleticos de San German (#5). Curbelo showcased his all-around game by recording 18 points, 10 rebounds and 12 assists (!!!) in the last week. He was a key player of Atleticos, leading his team to a 120-105 easy win against slightly lower-ranked Aguada (#6, 10-19). The chances of San German ranking at the top of Group A, however are very questionable as they have already lost 17 games, recording just fourteen victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Curbelo could help San German to bring them higher in the standings. Curbelo has a great season in Puerto Rico. After 31 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in assists with 5.9apg (5th best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Emmanuel Mudiay (196-G-1996) of Quebradillas - 34 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists
5. Brady Manek (206-F/C-1998) of Ponce - 26 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists
6. Kobi Simmons (196-G-1997) of Carolina - 24 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists
7. Sam Mennenga (206-F-2001) of San German - 20 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists
8. Brandon Knight (190-G-1991) of Arecibo - 20 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists

10. Jordan Murphy (200-F/C-1997) of Ponce - 21 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists

The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
