The 14th South American championship for U17 teams has just ended in Ecuador. Brazil U17 national team managed to qualify to the 2008 U17 Americas Championship for Women. After a sour start for Brazilians when they lost to Argentina the team needed to regroup and claimed one of the two qualifying spots. However on Day 3 of the tournament Brazil suffered another blow when they were rallied over by Venezuela 65:72 behind 17 points from Roselis Silva. They now had to win the remaining battles to have the chance to improve in the ladder.
Fortunately for all Brazilian fans the U17 team fulfilled the task. They first crashed Chile 92:36 in Round 4. In the last round they faced a must-win battle against the hosts. In a dramatic clash Brazil turned out to be more successful overcoming Ecuador 57:55 to clinch the third spot in the ladder.
