Brazil and Argentina to clash for the trophy

Brazil - Chile 84-65
Brazil overcame a fierce opposition from Chile to reach the title game at the U17 South American Championship in Ecuador. Brazil will now take on Argentina for the trophy. The victory also guaranteed the spot at the U18 Fiba Americas Championship for Brazil. Brazil and Chile stayed close throughout the opening quarter. The favourites eked out a 17:15 lead after ten minutes. Brazil stretched their advantage in the second quarter. They arrived at the interval up by 10 points 39:29. Brazil could not clear off in the third term. Chile stuck around as they trailed by only 11 points at the final intermission. But Brazil unleashed 29 points in the fourth frame and sealed the winning outcome. Kananda Ribeiro (183-F/C-96) chipped in 19 points for Brazil. Vitoria Domingos (178-PF-96) added 17 points and 10 rebounds in the victory. Barbara Cousino (178-F-96) responded with 17 points for Chile. Jenifer Fuentes had 16 points in the loss.

Argentina - Ecuador 73-41
Argentina will play in the title game at U17 South American Championship. They overcame hosting Ecuador to take on Brazil for the Gold. Victoria Llorente (184-F/C-96) delivered 14 points and 12 boards in the win. Argentina also guaranteed the ticket to the U18 Fiba Americas Championship to be held next year. Argentina limited their opponents to just 10 points in the first frame and opened an 8-point lead. Argentina stayed dominant throughout the second quarter. They ensured a 40:20 halftime advantage. Ecuador struggled to recover in the third term. They struggled offensively scoring just 9 points. Argentina built a 26-point advantage before the fourth frame and never looked back en route to the win. Agustina Garcia (173-F/G-96) had 12 points, while Macarena Visus, Sabrina Rodighero and Magali Armesto had 8 points each in the victory. Daniela Camacho (96) responded with 15 points for Ecuador. Karla Yepez had 6 points in the loss.
5-8 Place
Paraguay - Peru 53-51
Paraguay secured the second straight victory at the U17 South American Championship. They held off Peru in the classification round. Paraguay will now take on Venezuela for the fifth overall position. Natalia Quevedo stepped up with 18 points to pace the winners. Peru eked out a 15:13 lead ten minutes into the game. The teams traded baskets throughout the second frame. Peru ensured a 30:28 halftime advantage. But Paraguay took the initiative in the third term. They triggered an 18:5 run to pull ahead for a 46:35 lead. Peru narrowed the distance in the final stanza but came up short of win at the end. Paola Akita posted 13 points, while Ana Velazquez had 7 points in the victory. Valeria Ojeda (96) responded with 13 points for Peru. Maria Lora had 11 points and 13 boards in the losing effort.

Venezuela - Uruguay 91-52
Venezuela recorded their second win at the U17 South American Championship. They defeated Uruguay to set up the clash versus Paraguay for the fifth overall position. Five Venezuelan players scored in double digits against Uruguay. Laury Garcia (174-SF-97) netted 14 points in the victory. Venezuela recorded a 14:8 lead after the starting quarter. They extended the lead in the second frame. Venezuela accumulated a comfortable 44:26 halftime lead. Things hardly changed in the second half. Venezuela cleared off to a 30-point distance at the final intermission. They stayed in charge in the final period and sealed a convincing win at the end. Odana Marcano, Nicole Lazo and Siuly Marcano (186-PF-96) dropped 12 points apiece in the victory. Sofia Nilson answered with 12 points and 10 rebounds for Uruguay. Paula Sosa had 12 points and 7 rebounds in the defeat.
