Brazil tastes Gold in Porto Viejo at the U17 South American Championship. The Brazilian side overcame Argentina 86:63 in the Final game and clinched the trophy. Both teams entered the game undefeated. Brazil started with a 24-22 rally and added 12-8 before the halftime. Moreover Brazil dominated the second half and posted two more victories. They won the third period 27-22 and finished the game with 23-11 surge. Thayna Silva (96) top-scored for the winners with 25 points and 10 rebounds, while Dos Reis Caroline nailed 18. Domingos Vitoria produced 12, whilst Bianca Araujo (189-C-96) had 10 points and 13 rebounds. Magali Armesto (170-PG-96) replied with 12 points in the losing effort. Victoria Llorente (184-F/C-96), Rodighero Sabrina and Garcia Agustina scored 10 points each in a loss. Both teams advanced also to U18 Fiba Americas Championship for Brazil.

Ecuador - Chile 55-85
Chile clinch Bronze at the U17 South American Championship. The team needed to overcome the hosts in Porto Viejo 85:55 for the third place. Ecuador finished fourth at the home tournament. Chile started the game with a 29-15 surge and never looked behind after. The guests added 26-17 rally in the second period and had 23-point advantage at the halftime. Ecuador managed to win the third period 13-11 and reduced to 66:45 after three quarters. Chile meanwhile closed the game with a 19-10 run for the final success. Cousino Barbara top-scored for the winners with 27 points and Catalina Abuyeres (182-F-97) collected 17 points and 15 rebounds. Basaez Sendy also scored 17, whilst Wevar Jessica netted 11 and Fuentes Jenifer brought 8. Karla Yepez finished the game with 12 points and Camacho Daniela nailed 10. Viviana Zurita produced 9 and Cajamarca Karla had 8.
5-6 Place
Venezuela - Paraguay 78-58
Venezuela finishes 5th in Ecuador at the U17 South American Championship. They overcame Paraguay 78:58 in the game for 5-6 places. It was Paraguay that started better and won the first period 24-17. The rest of the game however was fully controlled by Venezuela. The latter won the second period 18-11 and tied the score at the halftime. Moreover Venezuela posted a 16-9 rally in the third period and entered the last stanza with a 7-point deficit. Venezuela also added 27-14 burst in the last stanza for the final result. Patricia Sosa (170-PG-97) stepped up with 19 points and Rivera Genesis netted 15. Soto Izmar scored 9, while Odana Marcano notched 8. Quevedo Natalia ended up with 18 points and 14 rebounds, whilst Marin Maria notched 11. Paola Akita delivered 7, while Caceres Maria had 6.
7-8 Place
Peru - Uruguay 59-40
Peru escape the last spot with the win over Uruguay at the U17 South American Championship. Peru posted a final 59:40 win as both teams finished their campaign in Porto Viejo. Peru managed to win the first period and took 20-9 lead. They added 13-6 in the second frame and increased to 33:15 at the halftime. Uruguay woke up in the third period and needed a 17-11 rally to cut it to 12 points after 30 minutes of the game. Peru meanwhile closed the game with a 15-8 rally and sealed the victory at the U17 South American Championship. Pilar Somocurcio led the way with 17 points and Ojeda Valeria had 11. Soto Carla chipped in with 8, whilst Valeria Gordillo collected 6 points and 11 boards. Sosa Paula answered with 17 points and 13 rebounds, while Alvez Victoria and Natasha Dolinsky (97) tallied 6 apiece. Lancieri Agustina followed them with 3 points in a loss.
