Group AParaguay - Argentina 51-55Argentina held off hosting Paraguay for 3-0 record on top of Group A. Florencia Chagas (174-G-1) stepped up with 20 points to lead the winning side. Paraguay accounted for a 22:12 lead after the first period. But Argentina slowly turned things around. They pulled within a single point at the final intermission. Argentina followed with a 17:11 run in the fourth term and snatched the victory. Tamara Pinto (183-C-99) had 14 points and 14 rebounds for the winning side. Natalia Quevedo (170-F-98) answered with 19 points and 11 rebounds for Paraguay. Uruguay - Ecuador 50-88 Ecuador celebrated the first victory in Asuncion. They rolled past Uruguay in Group A. Fabiana Limongi (169-G) scored 33 points to pace the winners. Ecuador piled up a 40:25 halftime lead and never looked back en route to the victory. Domenica Elizalde had 15 points for the winners. Camila Panetta and Florencia Fernandez netted 11 points apiece for Uruguay. Group BBrazil - Venezuela 70-49Brazil fired past Venezuela to clinch the top position in Group B. Clarissa Fernandes (180-C), Raphaella Marciano (183-F/C-99) and Licinara Rodrigues connected for 14 points each to lead the winning side. Brazil grabbed a 22:7 advantage after the opening frame. They protected the lead throughout the reminder of the contest and rolled to the win. Luisanny Zapata (165-SG) answered with 10 points for Venezuela. Peru - Chile 46-43 Peru topped Chile for the first victory at the championship. Lucia Guerrero (1) posted 13 points to top-score for the winners. Chile accounted for a 22:16 halftime lead. Peru denied the deficit in the third term and snatched a one-point lead at the final intermission. Peru limited Chile to just 13 points in the fourth stanza and got to the win. Eva Arellan (98) notched 9 points for the winners. Montserrat Arcos responded with 15 points for Chile. |
