FINALVenezuela - Brazil 58-62Brazil celebrated Gold medals in Asuncion. They overcame Venezuela in an exciting Final. Raphaella Marciano (183-F/C-99) stepped up with 19 points and 9 rebounds to pace the winners. Brazil grabbed an 18:9 lead after the opening quarter. Venezuela pulled within 3 points at the interval. But Brazil went on a 16:8 run in the third term to open an 11-point lead at the final intermission. Venezuela fired 22 points in the fourth term but could not avoid the defeat. Obalunanma De Angela had 12 points and 10 rebounds for the champions. Josberly Torres (169-SF) responded with 14 points for Venezuela. 3-4 PlaceArgentina - Paraguay 57-30Argentina celebrated a comfortable victory over Paraguay to step onto the pedestal. They earned the Bronze medals and clinched FIBA Americas U18 Championship birth. Florencia Chagas (174-G-1) posted 18 points to lead the winners. Malena Velasco (170-SF-99) contributed 12 points in the winning effort. Argentina accounted for a 32:17 halftime lead. They held the hosts to just 13 points in the second half and marched to the victory. Adela Cardenas (99) knocked down 10 points for Paraguay. 5-6 PlaceEcuador - Peru 61-48Ecuador claimed the fifth position at the championship. They overcame Peru in the final game at the tournament. Fabiana Limongi (169-G) recorded 18 points to pace the winners. Ecuador grabbed a 24:19 halftime lead. They connected for 37 points in the second half and marched to the win. Nahomy Guzman delivered 12 points and 12 rebounds in the victory. Lucia Guerrero (1) responded with 13 points and 8 rebounds for Peru. 7-8 PlaceChile - Uruguay 61-56Chile held off Uruguay to finish the championship on a high note. Montserrat Arcos stepped up with 16 points to lead the winners as they conquered the seventh overall position. Chile eked out a 30:26 halftime advantage. They knocked down 21 points in the fourth quarter and got away with a tough victory. Josefina Cortes netted 14 points in the win. Florencia Niski (2) responded with 16 points for Uruguay. |
