Argentina - Chile 45-29
Argentina outgunned Chile in the opener. Chile enjoyed a 22:14 halftime lead. But Argentina turned things around in the second half. They held Chile to just 7 points after the big break and rallied to the win. Milagros Maza (171-SF-03) and Genesis Toledano (C-02) provided 9 points each for the winners. Antonia Andaur (02) responded with 8 points and 6 steals for Chile.

Brazil - Ecuador 58-52
Brazil dropped Ecuador to open win count in Barranquilla. Brazil eked out a 29:28 halftime lead. They followed with a 16:9 run in the third term to boost the lead. Ecuador narrowed the gap in the fourth frame but could not avoid the loss. Adrielly Francisco (193-C-02) tallied 22 points and 16 rebounds, while Maiara Pereira (185-PF-02) had 10 points in the victory. Karla Benitez (177-F/G-02) answered with 11 points for Ecuador.

Paraguay - Venezuela 60-39
Maria-Paz Morinigo knocked down 20 points to lead Paraguay past Venezuela in Group A. Paraguay held Venezuela to just 2 points in the first period to open a 17-point lead. They went on a 15:7 run in the third frame to take an unassailable lead. Jael Benitez (163-G-03) had 10 points for Paraguay. Fabiana Hernandez (06) answered with 11 points for Venezuela.

Colombia - Uruguay 63-47
Colombia prevailed against Uruguay to open win count in Group B. Uruguay enjoyed a strong 22:2 lead after ten minutes. But Colombia responded with a strong 30:2 rally in the second term to secure a 32:24 halftime advantage. Colombia followed with a 31:23 second half run to seal the win. Daniela Gonzalez (179-C-02) notched 23 points and 12 rebounds for Colombia. Camila Kirshenbaum (170-PG-02) answered with 20 points for Uruguay.
