Argentina cruised past Bolivia for the fourth consecutive win in Asuncion. Argentina used a 28-13 run in the second period to gain a 17-point halftime lead. They held Bolivia to just 18 points in the second half to ease to the win. Sofia Gonzalez (162-G-2008, college: Tufts) scored 14 points, while Isabella Roldan (185-C-2009) added 11 points for Argentina. Valeria Mendizabal (172-C-2008) answered with 12 points for Bolivia. Colombia - Venezuela 46-47 Greidysmar Camacaro (167-SG-2009) sank a free throw late in regulation to propel Venezuela past Colombia in Group B action. Colombia posted a 25-20 halftime lead. But Venezuela held their opponents to just 9 points in the fourth stanza to snatch a tough win. Astrid Inojosa (174-G-2008) finished with 16 points for Venezuela. Jacqueline Edelman (178-G-2008) answered with 13 points for Colombia. Chile - Paraguay 57-68 Paraguay overcame Chile to improve at 2-0 record atop of Group B. Chiled led by five points after ten minutes. But Paraguay bounced back with a 18-9 run in the fourth quarter to snatch the win. Sofia Vigna (176-G-2008) tossed in 17 points, while Bethsaida Ferreira (176-C-2008) chipped in 14 points for Paraguay. Constanza Mella (175-F-2009) answered with 20 points for Chile. Ecuador - Uruguay 55-68 Uruguay outscored Ecuador to gain the first win in Asuncion. Uruguay posted a 33-23 halftime lead. They held Ecuador to just 7 points in the third stanza to clear off for good. Camila Postiglioni (169-G-2008) notched 17 points for Uruguay. Danna Moreira (164-G-2008), Lusiana Mosquera (177-C-2008) and Briana Sanchez (167-SG-2009) had 12 points each for Ecuador. |
